The worst thing to come from the Republican Convention wasn’t the nomination of Donald Trump; it is their platform Nearly every issue is in opposition to the will of the American people. Every one of their proposals is either racist, bigoted, misogynistic, homophobic, a rejection of women’s rights, and a gift to the wealthy, the NRA, and the Christian religious right.
Many of the items contained in their platform are in violation of the Constitution.
Republican proposals would increase the tax breaks for the one-percent, deregulate banks entirely, eliminate all consumer protection, and begin eliminating unions. They would also eliminate any federal minimum wage. It gets worse.
They would repeal all environmental legislation, privatize our federally controlled railways, cut government pay, (except for Congress), strengthen Citizens United to allow more campaign contributions, and eliminate any restrictions now required to purchase guns. How do you like that? More anti-American proposals coming.
A Republican administration would appoint extremists such as Antonin Scalia to the Supreme Court, with the intention of repealing Roe v Wade, repeal same-sex marriage, allow anti-gay laws such as those in North Carolina, repeal the Affordable Care Act, and actually pass an amendment to forbid any abortions for any reason. Hate, hate, and more hate.
This one will make you furious; Republicans would establish Christianity as our national religion. Myself and 65 million other Americans would revolt. I refuse to be a member of a cult based on fantasy.
The GOP would end funding for Planned Parenthood, shut down every abortion clinic in every state, and ban stem-cell research.
They would end the system of government established by our founding fathers, by removing all power from the executive branch. The President of the United States would become a tool of Congress.
To forever allow “red and blue states” which offer advantage to Republicans, they would make the Electoral College a permanent amendment to the Law of the Land, voiding your vote for the president if you live in a Republican-dominated state.
Republicans would require “citizen documents” to vote in elections, keep 11 million undocumented workers in limbo and deny any form of amnesty, void legislation requiring labeling of GMO manufactured foods, force welfare recipients to prove they were looking for work, lower the amount of food stamps, and privatize Medicare. Have you heard enough? I don’t believe so.
The party of the rich would open all federal lands, including national parks, to drilling, allow unlimited offshore wells, remove any restrictions on fracking, offer the oil companies addition subsidies, and approve the Keystone XL pipeline. F**k the planet, and f**k our country.
Republicans would void all agreements to reduce and stop climate change; it’s a hoax. They would eliminate federal government participation in Medicaid, and give the option to states. Social security recipients would not receive increases based on the cost of living, and the system should become privatized. How’s your blood pressure?
Internet providers would be allowed a monopoly. They would make English our nation’s official language, build Trump’s wall, require proof of citizenship to gain employment, severely punish states who offer “sanctuary,” support traditional marriage only, forbid gay couples to adopt children, require bible study in schools, eliminate the public school system, eliminate sex education and replace it with “abstinence only” information, and allow companies who offer student loans to charge any interest rate they choose. My teeth are grinding.
Republicans would make the death penalty mandatory in all states, give the Pentagon any amount it seeks annually, void the nuclear agreement with Iran, and support Israel unconditionally. Well that’s about it; America was a nice idea, but who needs a country where everyone is treated equally, and human rights are respected?
Is this a party you would choose? Will you allow Republican politicians to live lives of luxury and privilege and fail to represent you and your family?
If you answered yes, you must do two things; vote for Trump, and ask your parents what they did to your brain when you were born.
