George W. Bush used the attacks on September 11, 2001 for political gain. His failures would have prevented him from reelection in 2004 if nearly 3,000 people hadn’t been slaughtered on that fateful day.
Republicans continue to use an attack by cowardly terrorists on vulnerable and innocent Americans as a tool for seeking reelection. But the truth is that they don’t care about anyone who died on that day, or those who both attempted to rescue survivors, or find remains of those killed during the attacks.
In 2010 the Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act was passed, although Republicans attempted to defeat it. This act gave permanent healthcare to first responders who suffered multiple physical maladies from the tragedy of that horrific day.
The measure was up for renewal last year. Headed by John Stewart, Americans unanimously supported the law; but not Republican Congressmen. Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate Majority Leader, led the fight to defeat its renewal. Public pressure eventually forced Congress to vote in favor of the provision.
Not all illnesses are covered by the legislation. Profit before people continues to be our government’s policy.
Mike Megna spent three weeks sifting through the rubble of the twin towers, searching for remains. He is now suffering from a rare kidney disease he believes was caused by the dust from the debris.
He discovered that something was wrong in 2007. Today his kidneys are functioning at 45 percent of normal and continue to fail. The CDC has refused to recognize his health condition as one caused by his actions after 9/11. He is 45 years of age, with three children, and will eventually need a kidney transplant to live a normal life.
This man’s plight is a perfect example of why America will never be a great nation. Money has become our nation’s god. Although politicians claim to be Christian, they are lying to the American people. When every action taken is to advance their financial situation they are ignoring the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Republicans despise the working class; every action and non-action by these self-serving men and women is designed to assist special interests in their quest to increase profits.
Donald Trump has never performed a single act intended to advance our nation or care for its people. He is a member of the one-percent. He would never have assisted during the disastrous events of 9/11. He was in his golden tower watching the world fall down.
Trump will continue to live in that tower unless ignorant Americans gift him the presidency, and his new address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Mr. Megna needs the compassion which will allow him to receive the healthcare he desperately needs. People matter. Greed is the destructive force which has ruined our government and created a division between rich and poor wider than at any other time in our history.
Capitalism has failed the American people. No longer can hard work result in success. The wealthy take care of themselves, and use the American people as servants.
Ignore the biased mainstream media and “dump Trump.”
