Donald Trump has been sued dozens of times for failing to pay workers who labored on his projects. He hates the working class, and is now proving his dislike with statements pertaining to the federal minimum wage.
While millions of Americans are working two or more jobs to support their families, and the number of billionaires in the United States grows, Trump sees little necessity to change the situation.
Bill O’Reilly asked Trump about the minimum wage.
“There doesn’t have to be,” Trump said. “I would leave it and raise it somewhat. You need to help people. I know it’s not very Republican to say.”
“Ten bucks?” O’Reilly asked.
“I would say 10. I would say 10,” Trump agreed. “But with the understanding that somebody like me is going to bring back jobs. I don’t want people to be in that $10 category for very long. But the thing is, Bill, let the states make the deal.”
He is once again revealing his lack of knowledge. Several red states have already restricted any of their counties from raising the minimum wage.
Trump went on to talk about the cost of living in different states. While he’s not wrong, $10 per hour is not a living wage for a single mother in any state.
How can a man who lives in a golden tower understand the difficulty facing millions of Americans every week? He is ignoring the fact that although our nation has at least 536 billionaires, and countless millionaires, income inequality is forcing the number of families living in poverty to grow.
Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are suggesting a $15 per hour minimum wage. For millions of Americans this would change their lives.
In a debate last November, Trump continued to profess the Republican belief that the one-percent deserves their outrageous profits, and nothing must be done which would change the situation. He said the following about a $15 per hour minimum back then.
“Taxes too high, wages too high,” he said. “We’re not going to be able to compete against the world. I hate to say it, but we have to leave it the way it is. People have to go out, they have to work really hard and they have to get into that upper stratum. But we cannot do this if we are going to compete with the rest of the world. We just can’t do it.”
With corporations making 400, 500, and even 600 percent profits, $15 per hour is asking for very little. Once again, “profit before people.”
This fits with Trump’s tax plan. After a review by experts, they say it would be a gift to the wealthy. The working class will see little benefit, and the national debt will be increased by billions and possibly trillions.
How’s Hillary looking to you now?
