After Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech last evening, the predictable happened; Donald Trump attacked her with lies and accusations.
Of course he used twitter: “Hillary’s vision is a borderless world where working people have no power, no jobs, no safety,” Trump wrote. “No one has worse judgment than Hillary Clinton. Corruption and devastation follows her wherever she goes.” And what are you going to do about it, orange man? You won’t tell us because you don’t know how.
There have never been conventions which were as diametrically opposed as these two. Trump’s was composed of anger, hatred, attacks, lies, and a description of a horrible nation in need of repair. But he doesn’t understand the nation’s problems or how to fix them.
Democrats celebrated our nation’s diversity, patriotism, and painted a bright future for all Americans, not just a few. Ms. Clinton said exactly what she planned to do when she becomes our president. She never once used phrases or words such as “huge,” “great,” “it will be the best,” or “I’m the only one who can do it.” The theme was “Stronger Together.” America has proven for 240 years that when all of our nation’s people come together, America is unbeatable.
Trump used the words of Lincoln to frighten his supporters, not to admonish them and Lincoln intended.
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” Abraham Lincoln.
This is what Trump is attempting to do. He is not only dividing the Republican Party, he is attempting to divide or nation with renewed racism, bigotry, misogyny, and with the addition of Mike Pence, homophobia.
Hopefully intellect will eventually trump emotion, and the people will remember that there are critical issues facing our nation, and they must be addressed. We know that Trump has no interest in the working class; his supporters are white, upper-middle income, and mostly Christian. We must have Hillary Trump in the Oval Office fighting for all us.
A small percentage of former Bernie Sanders supporters just don’t get it. They are defying the man they supposedly devoted themselves to and are making it possible for a buffoon to infest the White House.
Democrats incorporated most of Bernie’s ideas into its platform; and this platform is in direct opposition to Republican’s. Income inequality is widening; women continue to be treated unequally in the workplace and in terms of control over the health of their own bodies. Many of Bernie’s supporters are of college age. If Trump is elected the cost of higher education will rise, not experience a decrease. Trump’s temperament proves that he makes rash and dangerous decisions. The future of America is on the ballot you will hold in your hands in November. Don’t give away your only power to a member of the one-percent.
