Why I Believe Tim Kaine was not the Best Choice

Kaine

Most of the time I completely agree with comedian Bill Maher. His HBO program allows him to be straight forward with his remarks. He is not bound by the need for ratings, as are the mainstream media. Maher is able to do what I can do; tell the truth without “sugar coating” it.

Last night on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” he did not defend Hillary Clinton against the outrageous and fallacious comments of Donald Trump, he challenged her to embrace them. I agree, but I thought she could have taken a slightly different action; she should have nominated an aggressive running mate.

“Since half the country will believe an evil cartoon version of Hillary Clinton, no matter what she says or does, she has to embrace it,” the comedian said.

Maher claimed that “sweet grandma Hillary” would have “done fine in 2008.”

But in 2016, and with the rise of reality TV personality Donald Trump to become the GOP’s presidential candidate, he said “the voters are not in the mood for steady as she goes.”

“They are pitch fork angry and they don’t want America’s nicest grandma,” said Maher. “They want the wolf with bits of grandma in its teeth.”

I’m not certain that Hillary has the ability to take such a tact; she is first to admit that she is not the greatest public speaker, she could look as foolish as Marco Rubio during the primary season.

Although Tim Kaine is a qualified and experienced vice-presidential candidate, he is not the ‘attack dog’ Hillary needs. If she would have chosen Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, or a Kirsten Gillibrand, Trump’s focus would have been on the vice-presidential candidate instead of Hillary Clinton. His weak temperament would have forced him to engage in a war of words with Hillary’s running mate, while she continued to talk about the issues.

Trump will continue to use the only tactic available to him; attack, attack, attack. It doesn’t really matter whether or not his criticism has a basis in fact, he will continue to use the only weapon available to him.

He cannot talk about issues he fails to support. He cannot speak of the needs of the American people; he fails to recognize what they are. He cannot debate Hillary regarding international affairs or national security, he has no understanding of the complications of deliberating with our allies and our enemies.

Maher and I definitely agree; Hillary cannot allow Trump to continue his attacks without someone on her team exposing the real Donald Trump; and it’s not a pretty picture. He is a business failure who has filed bankruptcy six times to avoid paying workers. He has had questionable business relationships. Women will be coming forward to charge him with sexual harassment, much the same as his close, personal friend, former President of FOX Noise, Roger Ailes.

The fact that he refuses to use a speech writer, and a teleprompter, will force him to add more proof of his racism and bigotry.

Hillary needed someone who would have challenged him; not a ‘nice guy’ such as Tim Kaine. It may cost her the election.
