Republican Party Represents a Negative America

New Republican Logo

If you go to Google News, and type in “Republicans,” you will not see a single positive story on that page. With Donald Trump as their standard bearer, this is no surprise. But articles about today’s Republican Party itself are indicative of a party doomed to fail.

The title of an article this morning in the Washington Post is a perfect example of what is wrong with the GOP: “Trump is the first modern Republican to win the nomination based on racial prejudice.”

What is not discussed is the fact that Trump has millions of avid followers who support his vile beliefs. This is far more frightening than Trump himself. Are the American people experiencing a move to the past; a past riddled with racism, bigotry and senseless hatred? This frightens me. To think that progress made over the last 60 years is under attack is unacceptable.

“How the ‘Stupid Party’ Created Donald Trump – The New York Times”

This has been my concern for years. I have watched as Republican leadership failed its party. They have relied on their declining base for more than a decade, and refused to attract other demographics. In addition, they allowed a small group of extremists who called themselves the “TEA Party,” to take control of the Republican Party. It has moved so far to the right that a functioning government is no longer a reality.

Reince Priebus, John Boehner, and Mitch McConnell are the architects of “Trumpenstein.”

The News and Observer writes: “On Islam, the GOP has lost its mind, forfeited its soul.”

This is entirely accurate. Muslim Americans love their country and are here because of the first amendment. Few Americans have ever read what our founding fathers considered the most important section of the Bill of Rights.

“Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Freedom of religion had significant importance for our forefathers. They left England because the Anglican Church had been declared the official religion of England. With very few exceptions, our founding fathers were not religious. Only a few of them were Christian. But they considered the right to practice a religion of choice paramount to the new country’s mandate for individual freedom.

Republicans have joined with the Christian religious right in an attempt to violate the first amendment by establishing Christianity as America’s national religion. This is included in their 2016 platform.

The Huffington Post asks: “Is The Republican Party A Legitimate Political Party?”

That’s an interesting question. I do not believe in political parties; I firmly believe everyone should be an Independent. However, if you choose to join one, you have a right to expect certain things. You choose a party based on its core beliefs which most closely align themselves with your own.

What does today’s Republican Party believe is right for all of the American people? They have nothing. They say all the right words in speeches, but fail to offer one concrete proposal for the betterment of our nation and its people. Today’s GOP is composed of individuals who seek political careers for their own advantage and ambitions.

The entire page is filled with negative titles. This is not the Republican Party where I once found candidates worthy of my vote.

There will be a memorial immediately after the November election.
