One Week in the Despicable World of Donald Trump

Donald

We have learned many things about Donald J. Trump in the past year. None of them are flattering to the failed businessman. This last week has offered greater insight into Trump’s intellect and lack of understanding who the President of the United States must be.

Hillary Clinton must become our 45th president based on her experience and qualifications, but Trump is making it easy. His temperament precedes a feeble intelligence and has revealed a truly despicable human being.

Trump’s horrific week began with an attack on a family of a war hero. The father of Captain Humayun Khan spoke at the Democratic Convention. He spoke honestly about Trump’s denouncement of all Muslims, and how he and his family are proud of their faith in the religion of Islam. He asked Trump if he has ever read the Constitution; I doubt it. Finally, he pointed to the sad fact that his son gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country, and asked what Trump has ever sacrificed.

Trump’s response to the latter was that he ‘made money, built structures, and created thousands of jobs.’ He continued to lash out at Mr. Khan and question why Mrs. Khan did not speak; claiming it was because of their religion.

Now here’s where humor and hypocrisy enter the picture.

Mr. Khan was asked to appear on multiple news networks. Trump attacked him for spending too much time on television. Who has had more coverage by the media than Trump? This is Trump’s ‘dream come true.’

Then there was the incident with the crying baby. Trump was holding a rally when a crying baby was heard in the audience. Initially, Trump spoke kindly about the child. It didn’t last long. Once again he displayed a lack of character when he eventually told security to ‘get that crying baby out of here; I’m trying to make a speech.’

Trump paid dearly for not only failing to endorse fellow Republicans Paul Ryan, John McCain, and Kelly Ayotte, he taunted Ryan by repeating Ryan’s own words when he refused to unreservedly endorse Trump. He said “I’m just not there yet.”

Eventually, after a reported ‘angry’ meeting with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, Trump capitulated and endorsed the three respected Republicans while reading from a script.

Trump’s campaign staff began to grumble, saying that they “feel like they are wasting their time.”

Trump even attacked fire marshals in Colorado for protecting his supporters by enforcing the maximum occupancy regulations.

Trump called Hillary Clinton “the devil,” and suggested that the general election could be ‘rigged.’

Possibly the most revealing statement made by Trump involved his daughter and sexual harassment. When asked what he believed Ivanka would do if she was a victim, he said the following: “I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if that was the case.” She should simply ignore the fact that another woman was treated as an object; a second class citizen. Trump can never claim that he is not a misogynist.

Trump displayed his lack of knowledge when he said that he would allow Russia into the Ukraine; they have been there for some time.

Then there were several idiotic pictures and statements which were hideously embarrassing and comical.

He was photographed eating Kentucky Fried Chicken on his jet with a knife and fork. Really?

Then he claimed to have seen a video of millions of dollars in cash being unloaded from a truck in Iran. He later said he was ‘mistaken.’

Jan Brewer is the former Governor of Arizona who angrily berated President Obama on the tarmac. She was as confrontational and controversial as any governor in history. Even she believes that Trump’s rhetoric is too harsh, and that she wishes that he “would tone it down a little bit.”

Not a good week for the worst presidential candidate in history. I have a feeling that there are worse days to come.
