Too Late for Party Unity now Mr. Drumpf

Ryan

Now that the man who is the standard bearer for the Republican Party and calls himself ‘Donald Trump’ has been exposed for the charlatan and buffoon that he truly is, we must begin calling him by his real name. Donald Drumpf fits him far better than the ‘stylized’ name Trump.

Another of my least favorite criminals, philanderers, and vile Republicans, Newt Gingrich, claimed today that Trump has “gotten the messages” from party leadership and has begun to take steps to unify the Republican Party. We’ll see about that. The moment anyone criticizes Trump, he will attack them; and attack them personally with evil and demeaning rhetoric. This is the only thing he understands.

Trump previously refused to endorse the reelection campaigns of Speaker Paul Ryan, John McCain, and Kelly Ayotte. After what was reported as a very heated discussion with Republican leadership, he changed his mind a couple of days later. Reading from a prepared script, he stated that he supported all three.

“He came out and endorsed Paul Ryan, which he should have done in the first place,” Gingrich said. “He endorsed John McCain, which he should have done in the first place. He endorsed Kelly Ayotte.”

It’s all far too late. Every day another long-time Republican has either left the party, or left the party and endorsed Hillary Clinton. Trump has ruined his own campaign and ruined the party. The ‘fat lady has sung’ her final note.

It may be too late for this election, but to save the once Grand Old Party, those who remain dedicated to what was once the ‘party of Lincoln’ will continue their “Dump Drumpf” efforts. His supporters do not believe in the principles of the Republican Party, nor do they believe in the America of our founding fathers.

We don’t want Drumpf, and we don’t want those who share his beliefs; they represent the worst of America.

Trump’s ridiculous red hats say “Make America Great Again.” Let’s be clear about a few facts. America has never been great. Prejudice has always existed. If southern states could find a way, slavery would be reinstituted. Prolonged capitalism, which supports only one-percent of our nation’s people, has created an income inequality similar to third world nations. No nation can be great when one of the leaders of a major party is openly racist, bigoted, misogynistic, homophobic, and a xenophobe.

If true Republicans have real concern for their party and our nation, they must ignore this election, denounce Trump, and begin to reconstruct the GOP; a party which is based on the principles and ideals of great Republicans from the past. Being a Republican in name only is destructive to the party’s brand.

There is no place in a democracy for extremism. No government designed to represent millions of men and women with contradictory view points on multiple issues can exist without deliberation and compromise.

As of this day, the majority of the Republican Party refuses to support democracy. In the case of Trump, he would lead our nation with the support of fascist ideas. He is unqualified to be involved in our nation’s political system. He is not an American in any sense of the term.
