The media has spent more time talking about multiple cases of leaked e-mails in the last year than anything else. Whether it was Sony, Hillary Clinton’s personal e-mails, or the hacking of the DNC’s e-mail account, there has been too much time spent on situations which in reality have little importance. But this is the new media where ratings are far more important than the truth and what is significant for our nation’s people.
I do find it humorous when cable broadcasts not only expose the failure of mainstream media, but also offer the American people some semblance of truth. Bill Maher may not be perfect, but he continues to ask the tough questions which no one on FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC, or MSNBC will ask. The fourth estate no longer exists, and others who demand the truth are the harbingers who offer the American people the facts they deserve.
Maher had a video conference on his HBO broadcast, “Real Time with Bill Maher,” last evening which interviewed Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks. They discussed the hacking of the DNC, and Maher asked Assange if he was working for the Russian government. There was no direct answer. However, when Maher suggested that WikiLeaks take action against Donald Trump’s refusal to reveal his tax returns; Assange was straight forward.
“Why don’t you hack into Donald Trump’s tax returns?” since the real estate heir has refused to release his taxes, thereby becoming the first U.S. presidential candidate in decades to do so.”
The response by Assange was simply: “Well, we’re working on it.”
We all wonder what Trump is hiding; and there is no doubt that it is something he is unable to defend.
He has been sued and accused of questionable business practices for decades, but is the truth more sinister? One of the primary assertions is that he is not in fact a member of the ‘billionaires club.’ Has he failed so miserably that he is in truth a “loser” in his many business misadventures?
It’s not mandatory, but it is customary for presidential candidates to reveal their finances by offering their tax returns. We know that Trump is incapable of accepting criticism, even when it is based completely on fact. He is afraid of something; something which would prevent him from attacking another person. He would be forced to accept his own truth.
I truly hope that Assange is serious; I want to know, and I’m sure the rest of our nation wants to know. Between now and November Donald Trump will be exposed.
It won’t be pretty.
