Ignorance of Benghazi Families Places Blame on the Wrong Person

The Secretary of State of the United States of America is virtually a powerless position; they are high level diplomats. She or he makes assessments of situations and recommends actions and solutions to the President or in some cases the military, under the control of the Commander in Chief. Republicans are attempting to misdirect facts from the disaster in Benghazi, aided by ads from a lobby to falsely discredit Hillary Clinton. The NRA is not an American organization, it is a business which is protecting gun sales and gun manufacturers.

When Benghazi was under attack, the decisions related to the rescue of those in the embassy were solely the responsibility of the military commanders in the area.

Although it can truly be said that there was initially much confusion relating to who planned the cowardly attack, and why it became a reality, what matters is that four Americans lost their lives. After four expensive investigations by Republicans over a period of many years, nothing new has been revealed to the American public. It was a sad and disastrous event; an event the American government can learn from.

The timing of a frivolous lawsuit filed by Patricia Smith and Charles Woods, who are seeking damages for wrongful death, defamation, the intentional infliction of emotional distress and more, is purely political. Republican leadership is responsible for actions which are entirely politically motivated.

Donald Trump is a loser, and the failed leadership of the GOP has allowed him to become the party’s standard bearer. Attacking Hillary is the only resort of the RNC. They cannot criticize her position on the issues; they oppose nearly every one of them; issues which are favored by the majority of Americans. Filing a lawsuit, which has no chance of success, is a desperate effort to help Trump regain his position as a challenger for the presidency.

This is shameful, unfair, frivolous, and even embarrassing. The charges against Hillary have no basis in fact, and desperate Republicans have given us proof, while spending millions of taxpayer dollars.

This is a typical Trump ploy. This is retaliation for his criticism of Mr. and Mrs. Khan. The nation was angered when they became the targets of a man who is openly racist. Because Trump has a very weak temperament, he failed to respect the reactions of the American people, and continued to attack the family of a soldier who sacrificed his life for his fellow soldiers and our nation.

Throughout this campaign season, new synonyms for Republicans have joined our vocabulary. They include ‘hypocrites,’ ‘ignorance,’ ‘racists,’ and ‘traitors.’

Although I feel compassion for Patricia Smith, and Charles Woods, I am saddened that they are allowing the Republican Party to use their loss as a political tool. This is as low as a party can go.

This is another reason the GOP has been destroyed. A viable political party must be able to stand on principle, and be proud of its efforts for the American people. None of this applies to today’s Republican Party.
