The ‘bride of Lucifer,’ Ann Coulter, has just released a new piece of trash, called by some ‘a book.’ It is titled, “In Trump We Trust.” She is one of the most extreme members of the Republican press, matched only by Rush Limbaugh. In the book she says: “Trump could only hurt his candidacy by reversing on immigration – he’s vowed to build a wall along the Mexican border and deport all illegal immigrants.” At a recent rally, she backed down from that statement in an obvious act of desperation.
From his very first Rally in 2015, Trump promised his supporters that all eleven million plus undocumented workers would be deported, and a ‘huge’ wall would be built between Mexico and the United States. Was he lying to Republican voters to win the party’s nomination? How can anyone believe anything he said in the last 14 months?
Rush Limbaugh is most likely doing what he does best; lie. But he fails to see a serious problem.
“I don’t see a lot of people preparing to abandon Trump over this,” Limbaugh said, but added, “maybe Coulter” would. “Who knows what she’s gonna do. I mean, her book hits, and it’s just had the rug pulled out from under it.”
I’m not so sure. Those who were members of the “dump Trump” contingent of the Republican Party will not believe that he has truly changed his mind. “Trumpists,” who have been loyal since his campaign began, may see this as a capitulation to the Republican establishment; the very group they have been protesting against.
Will they remember the attacks Trump used against Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio when they previously suggested that some form of legal residence for at least a part of the 11 million be granted? This is Trump’s cornerstone; the prime reason that he gained much of his support. Does anyone remember that they were behind his every statement because “he tells it like it is?”
The truth is that no one really knows who Trump is or in what he actually believes. It is totally possible that he “believes” whatever the people want him to believe.
His “new and improved” campaign team is also clouding the issue. The overall head of his campaign, CEO Steve Bannon, was the president of Breitbart, and Breitbart is completely against any form of legalization. No one knows what Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s most recent Campaign Manager believes; this is her first time in that position. We only know that she has him on a short leash at rallies and other public appearances. He is no longer allowed to be “Trump.”
Only time will tell if Trump’s flip-flopping will cause him a great deal of harm. Most informed and patriotic Americans have already decided that Trump must not be allowed to lead the free world; it wouldn’t be free under Donald J. Trump. Nothing could change our minds. We simply can’t trust Trump about anything.
