“I Didn’t Support Trump Before I Supported Him”

Bayh

The title of this article fits too many hypocritical Republicans. The reasons millions of Republicans and thousands of GOP candidates rejected Donald Trump were sound and even patriotic. Flip-Flopping and supporting the worst offering by the Republican Party in history tells me two things; they don’t love their country, and a party win is more important than the future of the American people.

I found one Republican candidate who may be the worst off all. He is attempting to ‘remain on the fence,’ and will not answer direct questions.

Todd Young is a Republican Representative from Indiana. He is running for a seat in the Senate. The former Marine says that he supports Trump. Three times he was asked if he believed that Trump would be an effective Commander in Chief, and in control of our nuclear arsenal. This is the best answer he chose to give.

“I’m comfortable with a complete change in direction in our foreign policy, and the Republican nominee has offered that.”

When asked again about nuclear weapons, Young attempted to change the subject. “Hillary Clinton has disqualified herself from having a top secret security clearance, but Donald Trump has not disqualified himself from getting a top secret security clearance.”

In my opinion, Trump shouldn’t be allowed to have a driver’s license; he cannot be trusted to make sound and intelligent decisions. His weak temperament has been denounced by military and security experts alike. This former Marine is another uninformed, unqualified, and ambitious politician; not someone representing the people of the United States.

Young will face former Democratic Senator Evan Byah in November. At present, Bayh leads by seven points in the polls.

Republicans cannot depend on vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence for support. Before he agreed to be Trump’s running mate, his favorability rating was in decline. Many citizens of Indiana believe that he would not have won a reelection bid.

Democrats need to win five additional seats to regain control of the Senate and remove Mitch McConnell from power. If they retain the White House, four will be sufficient; the vice-president is the tie breaker in the senate.

Young can be described as a “party first, country second” politician, much the same as John McCain. They support Trump, but continue to believe that he is not qualified to lead our nation and the world.

However, they join Trump as “flip-floppers.” Trump was “against immigration reform before he was for it.” What more can I say about the Republican Party of the 21st century?
