Politicians get away with hyperbole, innuendo, misdirection, and even lies until they say something which has already been proven fallacious. Trump’s speech about immigration in Arizona Wednesday contained few truths. Should the American people allow a man who lied his way to the Republican nomination become our president? I don’t think so.
“The time has come for a new immigration commission to develop a new set of reforms to our legal immigration system in order to achieve the following goals,” Trump said.
The problem is that most of what he suggested already exists with the exception of profiling. When he suggested the numbers of allowed immigrants, he apparently was unaware that they have stayed at a constant level for years.
“Countless innocent American lives have been stolen because our politicians have failed in their duty to secure our borders and enforce our laws.” A huge lie.
Although lower income communities tend to have higher crime rates, such levels are lower in Hispanic communities than in areas dominated by whites or blacks.
“On top of that, illegal immigration costs our country more than $113 billion dollars a year. For the money we are going to spend on illegal immigration over the next ten years, we could provide one million at-risk students with a school voucher.” Again; untrue.
The numbers Trump is using includes education for children born in this nation; legal citizens.
I will not bore you with listing all of Trump’s fantasies; the link to the story reported by nbc.news will be attached.
I have no way of knowing who is actually scripting Trump’s speeches today, but they are definitely not fact checking the text. Republicans, in general, love lies and hate the truth, but Trump takes lying to a new level.
One last example which proves that Trump has no understanding about how government works.
“We will immediately terminate President Obama’s two illegal executive amnesties.”
There was no amnesty; he offered certain legal protection to two groups.
What Trump will not admit is that Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush issued executive orders which granted amnesty to more than 4.5 million undocumented immigrants. They understood what it meant to be a President of the United States and make decisions based on reasoning, facts, and intelligence. Rash emotional responses based on a lack of accurate information is not acceptable.
If anyone in the mainstream media was truthful, they would define Trump as a fool; a man who cannot be trusted to lead the free world. He is a failed businessman whose empire is composed of ‘smoke and mirrors.’ He is a man who lacks moral character and the intellect to learn from his mistakes and trust in those far more qualified than he.
If what he labeled as an “important speech” was all based on lies and supposition, he cannot be considered a man qualified to become our president. He is not a serious candidate, and these are extremely serious times.
“I’m with Hillary.”
