“The growing threat of climate change could define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other,” Obama said in a speech at the Le Bourget conference center in Paris’s industrial outskirts. “What should give us hope that this is a turning point, that this is the moment we finally determined we would save our planet.” This was President Obama’s expression of his concern for our planet. He previously stated that this condition was far more dangerous to our world than terrorism. Only Republicans, who support the largest contributors to environmental destruction; those who pollute our environment without concern for the future of the people of our nation and the world, deny the facts. Profit before people, and in this case the planet which sustains human life.
Republicans are supported by the Christian religious right. If they truly believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ, they would be leaders of the effort to reverse climate change caused by man. Christ instructed humans to be “stewards of His Father’s work.”
Across our nation some of the most pristine and beautiful areas are now defaced with fracking wells. Natural waterways have been re-routed to serve the needs of big oil. Soil and water are being destroyed for the sake of profit. Large factories which use this poisonous substance are polluting our air. We will soon suffer the same dangerous conditions as Beijing.
Excessive use of fossil fuels is the cause of our planet’s destruction; period. Methods to reverse the situation should have begun 50 years ago, when climatologists informed us of the coming danger. But greed stood in the way then, and continues to do so today.
There is a looming danger to America. If Republican Donald Trump is elected, big business will be allowed to destroy the environment without oversight. He would disband the Environmental Protection Agency. His only interest as president would be building a wall, which Congress will not approve, and brutally deporting Hispanics living in our nation illegally. Common sense must remain in the White House. Our nation cannot afford another George W. Bush living in the White House who would make rash decisions and take rash actions. Our economy would move into a depression, and the nation of our forefathers would cease to exist.
I am not using scare tactics; I am speaking about facts. If the environment is important for the sake of your grandchildren; if the welfare of your family is of value; if the Constitution is to remain a sacred document; you must deny Trump’s personal goals. He does not care about the serious domestic problems facing our nation’s majority; he cares about the one-percent and personal gain.
“Dump Trump.”
