On September 6th, Hillary Clinton’s new book will be released. It has been co-authored with running mate, Tim Kaine. The title is “Stronger Together: A Blueprint for America’s Future.” It is designed to create a deep contrast between her policies, and the questionable and unclear proposals offered by the Trump campaign.
The media continues to discuss Hillary Clintons ‘unfavorable ratings,’ but fail to note the fact the Ms. Clinton was voted the “most admired woman in America” fourteen years in a row. Her efforts for the American people are ignored; sensationalism is their only focus.
In her book, she calls for reforming the entire judicial system, including changes in the way we use incarceration as a form of punishment.
“We should work together to pursue alternative punishments for nonviolent offenders where appropriate,” write Clinton and Kaine. “We don’t want to create another ‘incarceration generation.”
They discuss trade, and trade agreements including NAFTA and TPP.
They promised to “review” trade agreements like NAFTA that are “already on the books” and promises to oppose the controversial Asian trade deal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
“[W]e oppose the TPP — and that means before and after the election,” write Clinton and Kaine.
Clinton and Kaine promise to protect social security, and increase benefits for those who are in need. They would also add protection for widows eligible for survivor benefits.
In Bill Clinton and Al Gore’s book in 1992, they opposed a Palestinian State. Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine suggest that a situation of “two states for two peoples” remains a possibility.
The two Democrats propose improvements to the Affordable Care Act, including the ability of Americans 55-years-of-age and older to purchase Medicare benefits. They also support a $5,000 tax credit for families to help cover the cost of premiums.
We are unsure of exactly where Trump stands on these issues. From his rhetoric, we believe that he has no problem with the current deficiencies in our judicial system.
Trump claims that he would repeal all trade agreements without revision. He would negotiate new agreements, but fails to offer information regarding content.
Trump denounces social security and Medicare as failures; not admitting that Congress has stolen from these funds to finance “pork barrel” projects. Both systems should become solvent for the purpose of serving the American people.
He would also repeal the Affordable Care Act instead of considering improvements.
Isn’t this what the election should be about; the issues most important to the American people? It shouldn’t be all about name-calling and attacks. Do these methods incur belief by voters that their candidate is intelligent enough to be our president? Voters failed to consider these issues in 2000, and look where that took our nation.
