When Someone Who Hates America Runs for President

Clinton and Trump

If you’ve ever read anything I write, you probably know that I have dozens of reasons to despise Donald Trump. He is against everything I believe in and would damage my beloved nation beyond repair. The bottom line is the truth, which no one in the Republican Party likes to hear, and the media will never tell you.

First of all, Trump is not a true Republican in any sense of the word. He opposes the principles of Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Reagan. More importantly, he does not believe in the precepts of our founding fathers and would repeal parts of the Constitution. Our people, those of us who believe in the America which nurtured me for 70 years, must not allow someone who hates our nation for its social and philosophical growth. Racism, bigotry, misogyny, and homophobia must not be allowed to return in force to the forefront of our nation’s beliefs. We must move forward, and not backwards as Trump would prefer.

Trump’s history proves that he is a racist. He prevented blacks from renting apartments owned by him and his father 50 years ago. He has been outspoken regarding his distrust for Hispanics. Recently he said that Hillary Clinton does not ‘look presidential.’ When he attempted to explain his comment, he revealed the fact that it was because she doesn’t have a penis. His running mate, Mike Pence, was the first governor to enact anti-gay laws. Trump’s campaign CEO is an avowed white supremacist. Does any of this convince you that Trump loves his country, and actually wants to “make America great again?” ‘Great’ for Trump means white power.

Although last night’s poor attempt to inform the American people about the position of the candidates on national security was an embarrassment, Trump proved that not only does he have absolutely no understanding of what it means to be Commander in Chief, he would fail at any and all attempts to work with both our allies and our foes.

Hillary Clinton is not perfect; she is not even the perfect candidate. The truth is that in my lifetime there has never been such a person. I can begin by saying that as a senior in high school when John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated, I idolized him. But history has proven that he had his own devils. I voted for Ronald Reagan during his first campaign, but rejected him for his second term. He had waged a war on the working class. There are no perfect candidates; politics remains the ugliest profession.

But the truth is that Hillary is the best and most qualified candidate in 2016. She would be ‘the people’s president’ and not a tool of the super-rich. She would work for the people as president, and for the continued support of the Constitution which commands our government to consider all Americans, not just a few when the discussion of individual rights and personal freedoms become the issue.

Trump lacks any qualifications to lead our nation and the free world. He is a bad joke played upon America by Republican leadership.

Please re-post. The American voter must be an informed voter. Thank you.
