I never believed that I would see what is happening in my country today. I was born in 1946. As a very young man I listened to my uncles and my father who had returned from WWII. They believed that we had defeated the greatest enemy America would ever face. They were wrong.
I believed in the America people, who, in times of great danger banded together to fight a common enemy. My interest in politics began during the second Eisenhower Administration; “I liked Ike.”
I am not always an optimist, but I try. Today I have failed once again. I seriously believe that if Donald Trump is elected, the end of my America, the nation I truly loved, will experience its demise. I have only the voting public of the United States to blame.
I knew that there was a great deal of evil in our nation hiding under the guise of religion and unwarranted anger at no one in particular. I also knew that much of it had been created by the Republican Party in a desperate effort to win elections. But I also believed that the majority of my fellow Americans had common sense and would do the right thing for themselves, their families, and their neighbors. I no longer believe that. I believe that the majority of Americans have been brainwashed by television and “fake news broadcasts.”
I have witnessed our government and the two major political parties maneuver the Bill of Rights for personal gain. I began to fear for my country as first amendment violations became acceptable. After 9/11, the fourth amendment virtually disappeared. Efforts to repeal the 14th amendment have failed, but how long will that last?
Now I am watching a man who lacks the intellect to conduct a conversation; has no understanding of government; who associates with white supremacists and other organizations who are openly racist; and has failed to propose a single solution to our nation’s problems; this man is actually in contention for the highest office in our land.
His opponent is the most qualified candidate in our nation’s history, and she is battling to win a contest which should not exist. How can the American people continue to believe all of the lies and innuendos directed at her? Hillary has made mistakes, but they were honest mistakes made in the service of our nation and its people. She has never intentionally made and effort to undermine our nation or its security.
Her opponent has committed several criminal actions from illegal campaign contributions, domestic violence, illegal immigration violations, and fraud. He has lied and used emotional warfare to garner support from uninformed voters and voters who are influenced by racially motivated rhetoric. Trump has never sacrificed anything for his country. He bought his way out of military service during the Vietnam War, and has continued to act only in the interests of his personal success. And yet he is virtually tied with Hillary in the polls.
Trump rejects every principle supported by our founding fathers. He is the first “anti-American” candidate from a major party in history.
Trump will never be ‘my president.’ I cannot accept someone as my nation’s leader who despises every philosophical ideal by which I was raised. Our nation will be more divided than during the Civil War. There will be increased civil disobedience, and our enemies from nations around the world will take advantage or Trump’s lack of qualifications and naiveté.
The media will not tell the truth. The media doesn’t want to allow this election to be about the issues or the future of our nation. The proof is that they have supported Trump by exhibiting enormous bias. It’s all about ratings; “profit before people.” These are facts; this is the truth. You can believe me, because I am a patriot, and I am concerned for the future of my grandchildren.
Donald Trump’s motto should be “make America a Fascist Regime.”
Please help me save our nation and re-post. Thank you.
