Denial is not only a river in Egypt. The Republican Party’s leadership is in denial about the fracturing of their party. Those who are concerned, blame everything on Donald Trump. While he is the most divisive candidate in the history of American politics, the implosion of the GOP is far more complicated. It is the direct responsibility of a completely inept leadership.
Allowing the Republican Party to become the “party of no,” is the prime reason for its failure. Extremely weak leadership, principally Reince Priebus, Mitch McConnell, and John Boehner, initiated tactics which were bound to fail, and also allowed a small group of extremists to take control of the GOP.
In 2010, the Koch brothers began a plan to take control of the Republican Party. Their method was simple; spend millions of dollars on the election campaigns of unqualified and virtually unknown candidates who would take their orders seriously. The intention was to disrupt Washington, and promise to never raise taxes, and never work with Democrats. Their agenda was to be the only matter of importance; the American people were of no concern.
They gave it a name; the “Taxed Enough Already,” or TEA Party. Although Americans pay some of the lowest taxes in the world, this struck an emotional chord. What the actual intention of the Koch brothers was, was to increase the tax breaks for the one-percent, and remove any opposition to increased oil production.
These uncared and poorly informed individuals followed their orders without question. This group opposed everything which could make America great. Led by Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, Joe Heck, and others, they took control of the House, and caused massive obstruction in the Senate. They became so despised, that they began using a new name, “The Freedom Caucus.”
John Boehner was finally forced to resign as Speaker of the House, and his replacement, Paul Ryan, is no better.
In the Senate, Mitch McConnell adopted the “do nothing” attitude of this group of extremists and promised to take no action during President Obama’s Administration. He has ‘done nothing’ for eight years with the exception of lying to the voters of Kentucky, and to the American people.
Today the GOP is split into three factions; true Republicans, the TEA Party, and Trump supporters. None of these groups will capitulate after the election, and the party will remain divided.
The group which supports Trump is the least likely to have any control over the future of the GOP. They are composed of racists, bigots, homophobes, misogynists, and xenophobes. His only well-known supporters are failed Republicans who are desperately attempting to resurrect their careers; including Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, and Chris Christie. Other “has beens” such as Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity complete this group of losers.
Sadly, Trump is the party’s standard bearer. He has surrounded himself with individuals who are white supremacists, spin doctors, and conspiracy theorists.
Trump is nothing but a catalyst for the destruction of the once Grand Old Party, he is not the cause.
The Republican Party will be rebuilt by real Republicans who must return to the principles and ideals of former great leaders. If they were in power today, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush would be labeled as Democrats. With few exceptions, their policies were closer to those of Hillary Clinton today than those of Trump
The truth must be told, and we can help. The media has failed the American people, and be re-posting the facts millions of times, our nation can once again become an informed nation. Thank you.
