Anyone who believes that racism and prejudice in general are fading situations in America is very wrong. When Hillary Clinton called some of Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables,” she ‘nailed the truth.’ They are the very bigoted citizens I refer to; they were looking for a leader to come out of the closet.
For more than a year I have been making the claim that Trump’s original supporters were angry at Republican leadership for breaking our government and their inability to take the party forward. When Trump’s poll numbers began to grow was after he began his racist and xenophobic rants. The worst of America’s population found their voice.
Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence, is an evangelist first, American second, as well as a homophobe. Indiana was the first state to begin enacting anti-gay laws. He is one of the individuals Hillary was speaking about. He was angry with the former Secretary of State, and although he had trouble finding his notes, he finally chastised her remarks.
“Hillary Clinton said last night, at a big fundraiser in New York City, that, uh, the American people, the millions of Americans that are supporting my running mate, were described in the most deplorable of terms. It’s extraordinary to think of it. She referred to those people as irredeemable.”
A bit misleading. Hillary did not say that all of them were despicable, just some of them. Pence can deny that fact all he wants to, but it is the absolute truth. We all heard his supporters cheer loudly whenever Trump made a racist remark.
Near the end of his remarks, Pence confirmed that he was a member of the worst of Trump’s supporters when made a thinly disguised remark about the President. Of course, he took it fully out of context.
“I’ve not heard that level of disdain for Americans, that I can’t even repeat, since Barack Obama described people that oppose him as people that cling to their guns and religion,” said Pence.
President Obama also nailed the truth. Placing religion or the importance of possessing weapons of mass destruction before the Constitution and the rights of the many is anti-American. Just as Trump needs to read the Constitution, so does Pence.
It was refreshing for me to hear a political candidate speak the truth. Trump has yet to answer a question directly. His campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway embarrassed herself defending Trump on “CBS This Morning” Friday. She never answered one question, and said that Trump “would not reveal his secrets;” referring to his plans to defeat ISIS and address the situation in North Korea. Later in the broadcast, Pence’ counterpart, Tim Kaine, was asked the same questions and gave comprehensive answers.
Making a visit to a black church, or making a last minute plea to Hispanics, without clarifying your immigration plan, does not deter from the facts. All of Trump’s past proves that he is a racist, and when he began to speak to the masses, he confirmed the truth.
Racism in America is alive and well. If you doubt me, go to Facebook and read some of the comments about Colin Kaepernick. Personally I hate social media; it is no more than a tool for the uninformed bigot to spew their filth and denigrate those who care about all of the American people. My wife keeps me informed!
Please re-post and share the truth. Thank you.
