McConnell Led Senate Will Set Records

McConnell

The Senate will break a record which stood for 60 years by the end of the year. Thanks to Mitch McConnell’s failed leadership, it will have worked the fewest days since 1956.

100 Senators have just returned from a seven-week hiatus, and will likely leave again at the end of this week or next; they will return to their campaign trails. McConnell is afraid of Democrats retaking control of his useless group of legislators. He is afraid that under Democratic control, something might be accomplished. Of course he would also lose his job.

Three serious situations exist which demand attention now; the Zika virus, an empty seat on the Supreme Court, and a government shutdown.

Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill is angry. She believes that all 100 senators should do the job for which they were elected.

“I showed this calendar to people at home. They thought I was kidding,” McCaskill said.

“I think there is like 240 workdays that most Americans work every year,” she said. “By my estimate, I think we’re working about 110 of those. Now, no wonder the American people are angry.”

Damned right we’re angry, but the questions is, ‘will the electorate do anything about it?’ Will they remove Republicans from their life of power and privilege, while refusing to earn their outrageous salaries? Will Republican voters refuse to vote for a party and vote for a man or woman who will deserve their selection?

My own state offers a classic example of the ignorance of voters. Harry Reid is retiring from the Senate. The Republican nominee to replace him is Representative Joe Heck; the Democrat is Catherine Cortez Masto.

Heck has served two terms in the House. He has done absolutely nothing with the exception of joining efforts to shut down the government if funding for Planned Parenthood was not discontinued. Nevada’s residents have some of the lowest incomes in the nation, and many of those women rely on Planned Parenthood for their healthcare. Heck is a member of the “Freedom Caucus,” which is now what the TEA Party calls itself. The Koch brothers are paying Heck to vote for them.

Masto was our state’s Attorney General. Working with our Republican Governor, Brian Sandoval, she fought for legislation to make our state’s people safer. She has been endorsed by every law enforcement agency in the state. She was frequently praised by our governor, and is very qualified to go to Washington and represent all Nevadans, not just special interests.

So why is Heck leading in the polls? Because Republican voters believe many of the lies they hear on television from ads paid for by the Koch brothers. They are choosing a party, and ignoring the truth.

McConnell will be remembered as the worst Senate Majority Leader in our nation’s history. Eight years ago he promised to do nothing. His racism was evident after he declared that the only goal of Republicans in the senate was to defeat President Barrack Obama. He failed at that as well.

Please repost and expose today’s Republicans in Washington for their lack of patriotism. Thank you.
