I don’t know if you watched the farce which was Donald Trump on “The Tonight Show” Thursday. If he thought that most of us who follow politics closely, believed the persona he demonstrated on Jimmy Fallon’s show, he is less intelligent than I believed. I am thankful that a resemblance to the real Trump has been revived.
During the week his comments once again invited those who believe that violence is the answer. Only this time it was directed at Hillary Clinton. He continued to offer questions about his stance on immigration as well.
“A lot of people agree with me” on immigration, Trump said during a speech Saturday in Houston. “It seems everybody agrees. … You almost say, what’s not to agree with?”
On Saturday, he misled his own followers by saying the following: ” Trump said that “not one more American life should be given up in the name of open borders.” There are no large numbers.
This is more than an exaggeration, it is an escalation of his early comments about Hispanics being rapists and criminals.
On Friday, he offered more support for the most un-American lobby in our nation, the NRA, and suggested that Hillary Clinton’s campaign should tell their; “bodyguards” drop their weapons and disarm: “Take their guns away, she doesn’t want guns — take them, let’s see what happens to her.”
This is a man who is apparently in a virtual tie with Hillary in the national polls. Really?
Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook called the comment “out of bounds,” and said “we’ve seen again and again that no amount of failed resets can change who Donald Trump is.”
We must remember his comments about the possibility of Hillary nominating Supreme Court Justices, and what Trump said then. “If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. … Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”
Trump has been responsible for inciting violence repeatedly during his rallies. This is additional proof of his extremely weak temperament and proclivity tor violent action. Trump tweeted; “Crooked Hillary wants to take your 2nd Amendment rights away. Will guns be taken from her heavily armed Secret Service detail? Maybe not!” He continues to ignore the facts; he is representing the Republican Party which hates facts. Hillary and President Obama have never suggested that the precious guns of the gun nuts be taken away. They have simply proposed that people like you and me should feel safe going about our daily lives. Some restrictions must be instituted.
Robert Gates, former Secretary of Defense under George W. Bush said: “Trump is in a ‘league of his own’ and is unqualified for the job.”
Trump is very upset with the only qualified media left in the United States. They are respected print journalists who are not bound by large contracts to abstain from telling the truth.
For example: “@CNN just doesn’t get it, and that’s why their ratings are so low — and getting worse. Boring anti-Trump panelists, mostly losers in life!”
For another: “Crazy Maureen Dowd, the wacky columnist for the failing @nytimes, pretends she knows me well–wrong!”
For those of you who do not know Maureen Dowd, she is one of the most respected journalists in our nation’s history.
Nicole Hemmer, an assistant professor at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center, said it seems like he’s “telling people what they want to hear.”
Hemmer added: “I would guess we’re going to see these two Trumps throughout the rest of the campaign.”
But we know the real Trump. More than a year of revealing his true self cannot be erased by spin doctor Maryanne Conway. This is her only talent other than calling the American people “pigs” in 2008.
