I’m positive that many of you who are kind enough to read my rants, have heard me complain about how fear tactics used by the Republican Party have resulted in our country becoming angry and filled with growing hatred. This has forced a division among our nation’s people unheard of since the Civil War.
Until all of the people of our nation are treated equally and receive the respect they deserve, can America move towards greatness. Only when the rights of all men, women, and children are guaranteed, when our justice system repairs its blindfold, will America begin to heal.
FOX Noise, Donald Trump, and many other on the right wing denounce the movement ‘Black Lives Matter.’ Rush Limbaugh labeled it a “terrorist group.” If it wasn’t necessary, it wouldn’t exist. The undeniable facts, which are actually denied by Republicans, are that blacks are treated differently than whites by many in law enforcement; they are punished more severely by the legal system; and are prevented from receiving their civil rights in the red states.
The population of Jonesville, Louisiana is under 3,000; and 70 percent of that number are black. On the day a lone gunman killed three police officers in Baton Rouge, Jonesville’s Chief of Police, Skylar Dore, became enraged. Dore is white.
He immediately displayed his anger on Facebook: “Hey Mr. Bulls— president,” it began. “When are you going to grow a f—ing pair. And tell it like it is. These are terrorist. That have declared f—ing war on my brother. (White police officers) enough is enough.”
Obviously there was no mention of the many black men and women murdered by a few rogue members of law enforcement, and go unpunished.
The black residents of Jonesville labeled Dore’s tirade as racist; the whites claimed that he was simply ‘speaking his mind.’ Two days later, the mostly black city council fired Dore.
Southern whites were outraged. Job offers from across the state were presented to Dore. The former Chief of Police also received death threats. When a march was organized on his behalf, the Sheriff halted it fearing a ‘shoot out.’
Dore said that he was just expressing his civil rights, and was angry with the failure of President Obama to act in a manner he deemed appropriate, although it is uncertain what he could have done about a lone gunman.
In a past and unproven case, a black prisoner died while in Dore’s custody.
“This has brought out the real intentions of people, what they really think and really feel,” said Sharon Stevenson, a black resident who led the campaign to fire Dore. “The mask has come off.”
The simple truth is that before everyone has a camera on their phones, police brutality has been hidden from the majority. I was aware of the same problems which occur today happening when I was a young man growing up in Los Angeles. I attended a racially mixed school, and my friends told me stories which seemed unbelievable at the time.
Only when all Americans receive their Constitutional rights and the 14th amendment is fully enforced will the need for organizations such as Black Lives Matter disappear.
Please help make America great and repost. Thank you.
