Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, daughter of late US Senator Robert Kennedy, told Politico: “The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!” She was referring the our 41st President George H.W. Bush.
Personally, I am not surprised. Unlike today’s Republicans, and specifically Donald Trump, Mr. Bush was a principled president who worked across the aisle. His concerns were the concerns of the American people. He did not use fear tactics, he offered hope and a belief that our nation would become better with the passage of time.
A spokesman for Mr. Bush would neither confirm or deny Ms. Townsend’s statement, saying that his vote is a “private” matter.
The Bush family, along with Mitt Romney and John McCain, refused to attend Trump’s convention in July. They have openly stated that Trump fails to represent the principles and values of the GOP. The media’s emphasis has been on Hillary’s mistakes, and not Donald Trump’s failures. Personal e-mails, and creating questions about the Clinton Foundation have taken precedence over Trump’s own foundation’s illegal actions, his failed business ventures, and his history of racism. The media’s support of Trump’s candidacy is the only reason the polls are close.
It is a fact that far too many Americans cast their ballot based either on emotions or party affiliation. Both are serious mistakes and a danger for the future of our nation. The issues, and how each candidate addresses them are the only items of importance. If the American people reviewed the needs of our nation, and Hillary’s plan to repair the ills of our country, she would win in a landslide.
This is why I am not surprised to learn about the possibility of George H.W. Bush voting for Hillary. She is ready, capable, and will work for the majority of the American people.
As Mitt Romney said: “Donald Trump is a phony.” He doesn’t care about our nation or its people; his concern is Donald Trump.
I hope I can inspire one person each day to vote intelligently; please repost, and thank you.
