During the entire primary season, the three principal leaders of the Republican Party denounced Trump, citing his racism, bigotry, and the fact the he failed to support the GOP. Reince Priebus, the Chairman of the RNC, Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader, and Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the House, were all members of the “anybody but Trump” effort. When Trump won the nomination, they all became hypocrites and supported the only man they hated more than Ted Cruz. This is going to cost the party in the coming months.
They placed the Republican Party in a priority above the welfare of our nation and our people. They think that we’re too stupid to know the truth, but they are in for a huge surprise.
On Friday, the party supported Trump who claimed that Hillary Clinton had begun the “birther movement,” and that he had ended it. There is no better word for this than bulls**t. For more than five years he claimed that President Obama was in fact a black man who was not an American citizen. He reneged his statement on Friday, after obvious strong-arming by Republican leadership who is now funding part of his campaign. Trump said “period” at the end of his admission, but the truth is that it is not over.
On “Face the Nation” Sunday, Trump’s spin doctor refused to clarify the issue when questioned by moderator John Dickerson. Kellyanne Conway talked around it, and continued to blame Hillary Clinton for its creation, which has been proven to be a blatant lie.
Party leadership has also failed to address the use of campaign funds to repay Trump for financing his own primary campaign. They seem to have accepted his theft.
Supporting Trump will result in two things; Priebus will be fired for eight years of failure, and the Republican Party will become three separate entities. After the election, there will continue to be a Republican Party without leadership. There will also be another group without a name or leadership who supported Trump. Finally, there will be the TEA Party, or Freedom Caucus, whichever name they decide to use, owned and controlled by the Koch brothers.
Beginning in 2010, when the TEA Party infested the GOP, the party was doomed. Their extremism and promises not to deliberate or compromise destroyed democracy. Boehner and McConnell allowed this small group to move the Republican Party into a totalitarian entity.
Our government does not work without debate and eventual compromise. The members of this radical group are anti-Americans who reject the principles of our founding fathers. Priebus’ total lack of ability to be an effective leader allowed the completion of “Trumpenstein,” and therefore the end of the Party of Lincoln. It moved so far to the right that voters demanded change. When none was offered, they revolted and followed a megalomaniac, who was the worst presidential offering in history.
Trump is a detestable man, but cannot be blamed for the destruction of the GOP; it has been years in the making.
