Paul Ryan: Good Politician; Lousy Congressman

Ryan

Four years ago I had a somewhat good impression of Congressman Paul Ryan. Like many others, I was fooled. He is as bad as his predecessor John Boehner, and nearly as horrible as Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell. From his statement about support of Donald Trump when he said; “I’m not sure that I’m quite ready yet;” until today when he failed to comment on Trump’s ridiculous suggestion that law enforcement “stop and frisk” anyone they deemed suspicious, he fails to demonstrate any courage and has no commitment to the American people.

Ryan lacked the audacity to refuse his support for the man he once denounced. He agreed to chair his convention, and has bowed to party leadership and refused to criticize Trump when he is woefully wrong about an issue.

Read how he refused a direct answer to the question of “stop and frisk.”

“I don’t have an answer for you because it’s not something that I’ve familiarized myself with — the constitutionality of it, its efficacy, whether (it) worked well in New York City or not,” Ryan said.

He conveniently forgot that the policy was labeled “unconstitutional” by the court system.

Ryan’s initial response to reporters talked around the issue, and returned to Republican’s singular interest; Muslims.

“I haven’t given enough thought to it,” Ryan said initially about “stop and frisk,” and added, “we need to do more to stop home grown jihadism.”

Don’t be fooled; Ryan is a poor Congressman, but he is a good politician. His goal is the Republican Party’s nomination in 2020, regardless of whether Trump wins or loses in November.

Ryan is a perfect example of what we don’t need in Washington; politicians who place themselves and their party ahead of the nation and our people. He joins dozens of other failures and must not be rewarded for his lack of courage.

What has happened to the once Grand Old Party is extremely disheartening. Where are the men and women who had convictions and placed America as their first priority? Where are the Abraham Lincoln’s and Teddy Roosevelts? This most certainly is not their Republican Party.

Please spread the word and repost; thank you.
