Millions of racists in America have kept their views just ‘under the surface’ for more than five decades. Thanks to Donald Trump, they can now rise and praise their new leader. Trump is totally unaware of the problems blacks face in America. He does not understand that dissent is patriotic; the only way many Americans can call attention to the evils which exist in our nation.
Trump rejects the rights of the people of Charlotte, North Carolina, to protest the killing of a black man, Keith Lamont Scott, by police officers. He claimed that they are only harming the “good ones,” who live in ‘horrible, crime-ridden communities.’
“The people who will suffer the most as a result of these riots are law-abiding African-American residents who live in these communities where the crime is so rampant,” Trump declared at an energy conference in Pittsburgh. He added, “Drugs are a very, very big factor in what you’re watching on television at night.”
Drugs taken by who? The protestors? The television viewers? Who? Is Trump now accusing the protestors of being a group of drug addicts? Racists, bigots, and liars all have one thing in common; they cannot hide their true selves for very long.
Is there any doubt remaining that Hillary Clinton was correct when she said that half of Trump’s supporters were a “basket of deplorables?”
Trump has been endorsed by the KKK, and was very slow to denounce the act. Then, earlier this month, he hired an admitted white supremacist as his campaign’s CEO. Steve Bannon, the former head of Breitbart, is openly homophobic, a misogynist, and has reportedly made anti-Semitic remarks. He is a member of “Alt-Right,” which is a white supremacist organization. I often describe it as “skinheads with more money.” If you surround yourself with racists, does that make you a racist? Without a doubt. Anyone who denounces racism would never invite someone into their inner circle who is an avowed bigot.
Who is Trump to judge the people of Charlotte? He has never known poverty, severe mistreatment by law enforcement, or even hard work. He can’t even see Harlem from his golden tower. He has been shielded from the real America. He sees our nation through ‘orange-tinted glasses.’
If Trump had a conscience, or even a shred of moral character, he would be embarrassed by his remarks. The video Mr. Scott’s wife took with her camera, reveals her conversation with the officers involved. Her husband was mentally challenged, and instead of showing compassion, the police shot first, without seeking an alternate solution.
It’s time for change in America, and Donald Trump would not allow that change; he is a phony.
