When Hillary Clinton called half of Trump’s supporters a “bag of deplorables,” she was not wrong. However, she is a presidential candidate, and must be more subdued in her comments, unlike Donald Trump who gets a free pass from the media. Senator Elizabeth Warren does not have that obligation; she tells the truth without ‘candy-coating’ it.
While campaigning for Hillary Clinton on Saturday, Warren accused Trump and his segment of the Republican party for “making hate okay.”
“We’re here to say hate is not okay,” Warren told a crowd of roughly 500 volunteers packed inside a New Hampshire campaign office. “We build a stronger America together, that’s what this is about.”
Trump’s campaign has accomplished one thing; it has divided our nation even farther. Thanks to a free pass by the media he has been allowed to say the most vile and volatile things in the history of presidential campaigns without repercussions. Trump lacks the temperament, the experience, and the qualifications to be the President of the United States.
Hillary may not be “allowed” to “tell it like it is,” but Senator Warren can.
“What Donald Trump is doing is not what any of us thought a man who’s running for president would do,” she said. “He’s found something much uglier that he wants to make the basis of his campaign.”
She did not let other “Republicans” off the hook either. She was particularly critical of Kelly Ayotte and Ted Cruz. She said that Ayotte does not have the courage to denounce Trump, and would act in a similar manner if reelected in New Hampshire.
Cruz has proven himself to be the greatest hypocrite of all. He is now supporting Trump, the retched man who personally insulted him, his wife, and claimed that his father was involved in the assassination of JFK.
None of Senator Warren’s comments will affect Trump’s supporters. They choose to believe his lies and deny the truth. They would rather have a buffoon in office who will support their prejudices, than a woman who has served her country all of her adult life.
Personally, as a man who has been involved in politics for the majority of his adult life, I find this entire situation an embarrassment for my nation. Trump is the opposite of every great president our nation has had in its 240 years of existence. He is the standard bearer of a party with extremely low standards. They will continue to support their party, regardless of the dangers Trump places on the future of America. Their support of Trump proves that they do not represent the American people; they are the party of special interests and ‘profit before people.’
