America Needs Catherine Cortez Masto

Masto

Nevada voters have an opportunity to elect the best candidate for the job, and at the same time make history in November. With Harry Reid’s retirement, the battle for his seat in the Senate has been a series of fallacious attacks by the Republican candidate, Joe Heck. He has served two terms in the House, and has accomplished nothing. As a member of the “Freedom Caucus,” he attempted to shut down our government if funding for Planned Parenthood was not repealed. Not one positive action was accomplished in four years thanks to his association with the ‘party of no,’ and his promises kept to the Koch brothers.

His opponent is Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto. She served as our state’s Attorney General, and worked with our Republican governor, Brian Sandoval, to pass legislation to make our state safer. She is endorsed by every law enforcement agency in the state. Sadly, much of her campaign has been forced to defend herself against the lies of Heck and his supporters. Millions of dollars have been pouring into the state in an effort to elect Heck. He is another ambitious politician who would fail the people he was elected to represent.

If Ms. Masto is elected, she will make history as the first Latina elected to the Senate. In 2015, I wrote an article predicting that 2016 would be the “year of the woman” in America. If Hillary Clinton and Catherine Cortez Masto are both elected, I consider it a good beginning for our nation. For 240 years men have been in control of our nation’s government, and history proves that they have been eager to go to war, and lacking in their support of families and the working class, with the exception of FDR, who was heavily influenced by his wife, Eleanor.

For generations men claimed that women were unfit to be our nation’s president; saying that they were controlled by their emotions. I believe that last evening’s debate revealed the opposite. Hillary displayed a controlled temperament, while Trump turned shades of pink in his rage.

We need accomplished people in Washington. At present, thanks to the TEA Party, or Freedom Caucus, whatever they are calling themselves today, extremism and a lack of qualifications have been in control for nearly six years. It’s time for our government to function once again, and individuals such as Ms. Masto are desperately needed to make America work again.
