Traditionally, a large voter turnout offers victories for Democrats. To demonstrate this fact, we need only to look at the effort by several “red states” who have attempted to pass “voter ID laws” restricting the number of black men and women at the polls. Intelligent and patriotic men and women across the nation are denouncing Trump. Now it appears that an effort by social media is assisting Hillary by urging thousands of new voters to register.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and others have directed their users to a federal site which gives them the correct information to register and vote.
“Going back to 2008, we’ve been reminding people on Facebook to vote on Election Day and directing them to information on where to vote,” said Samidh Chakrabarti, who manages civic engagement products for Facebook. “This is the natural next step.”
Younger voters are generally better informed. They do not watch broadcast television, and receive their “news” from the internet or from blogs. If every millennial, and every single woman voted, we would begin to see the elimination of “red and blue” states, and Hillary Clinton would win by a landslide.
I join with social media in urging everyone to use the only tool we have to make our government better; our vote. This year is critical. It will decide the direction our country takes for the next four years, and possibly longer if Democrats retake the Senate.
On Friday, 16,000 voters registered or updated their registration in Georgia. Kentucky saw more than 25,000 do the same and Minnesota experienced 45,000. California had a whopping 200,000 voters insure their right to vote.
One of the most important things about younger voters is that they tend to be Independents, and reject political parties. Political parties have destroyed our government. Loyalty to one party often results in electing a party and not the best candidate. This has proven extremely harmful for our nation; it has removed our democracy and created an oligarchy in its place.
It’s time for younger people to vote; it’s their future. The “antiques” we now have in Washington must go. Their replacements should represent those who will be here in 50 years, and not those whose numbers are dwindling. The Orin Hatch’s, John McCain’s, Lindsey Graham’s, Mitch McConnell’s, and several others have outlived their usefulness.
I am a critic regarding the questionable value of social media and the danger it presents to unthinking users, but this is a very good thing, and I applaud each company for performing their patriotic duty.
Let everyone know that voting in more important now than ever; please repost. Thank you.
