Donald Trump cannot resist being himself; and that’s not a good thing. During Monday night’s debate, he continued the same practice of interrupting or talking over his opponent the entire evening. I blame his parents; he was obviously never taught to respect others and their opinions. He was rude and failed to display an iota of class.
Trump was crushed in the debate; he was obviously not prepared. On the contrary, Hillary Clinton was very well prepared and demonstrated a ‘presidential’ image of herself.
Clinton’s experienced and talented campaign team anticipated the tactics Trump would use in the debate, and incorporated a plan of counter attacks which obviously devastated the unqualified Republican standard bearer.
Trump had criticized Clinton for taking time away from the campaign trail to prepare for the debate. Her staff prepared the following response.
“I think Donald just criticized me for preparing for this debate,” Clinton said wryly after Trump hit Clinton for taking time off the trail. “And, yes, I did. You know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be president. And I think that’s a good thing.”
Clinton also exposed Trump’s bigotry and misogyny when he said that Clinton did not ‘appear presidential.’ She reminded him of his remarks about a former Miss Universe.
“He called this woman ‘Miss Piggy,’ then he called her ‘Miss Housekeeping’ because she was Latina,” Clinton said. “Donald, she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado. And she has become a US citizen and you can bet she is going to vote this November.”
In my humble opinion, debates are not won, they are lost. Viewers do not listen to valid points made by the candidates, they are watching and waiting for mistakes by one or both of the combatants. Trump offered multiple opportunities for viewer satisfaction.
The only question remaining, is will Trump prepare for the next two debates. The second will be a ‘Town Hall’ format, where questions will come from those attending. Will Trump be able to answer questions with no ‘script?’
We know Clinton will be prepared.
If you watched the debate and agree, please repost; thank you.
