If anyone needs proof that the media has failed our nation, they need only to look at the double standard they have placed upon Hillary Clinton. While Donald Trump gets a free pass, the media demands perfection from Hillary.
Trump has been allowed to attack ethnic groups and individuals with his vile and harmful rhetoric. He tells egregious lies; no problem. Not a single “newsperson” has forced him to answer a direct question. Although he claims to have solutions for everything, he won’t say how. Not a single television “journalist” has pointed to the fact that he is totally unqualified to lead our nation. No one has mentioned the fact that he is a failure at business, and has committed multiple illegal actions to further his ambitions.
Hillary Clinton is scrutinized for everything; past and present. If she fails to smile, or laughs too loudly, the media is critical. If her speech is too forceful, even though it is factual, she is being a ‘shrew.’ When she speaks about the issues, no one cares. Hillary was denounced for labeling one-half of Trump’s supporters as “a bag of deplorables,” but it’s acceptable for the “orange man” to call people “pigs,” make fun of a physically challenged journalists, make numerous racist remarks, and suggest denying the Constitutional rights of Muslim Americans. Hillary must be perfect.
A part of this is because she is a woman. America remains a male-dominated nation; but maybe that’s about to change. The media considers themselves more intelligent and more important than their viewers. They are all millionaires who only want more. But they’re about to face reality.
The American people are far wiser than they believe. More importantly, millennials do not watch television “news.” They are the largest voting bloc in America. Time will change everything. Baby boomers, like myself, are ‘fading into the sunset,’ and in only a couple of decades a major power shift will occur.
Women will be a major force in the not too distant future. They can’t be stopped. 240 years of failure by a male-dominated society will end very soon.
In spite of the fact that Hillary is held to a much higher standard, she will win in November. Trump will leave his mark on America; a black mark. He will be remembered as the worst offering by a major party in American history. As the standard bearer of the Republican Party, we will witness the end of the GOP.
Trump supporters will once again return to their closets. The man they revered as their leader will return to his golden tower in shame. Without someone to speak for white supremacists, homophobes, bigots, and misogynists, Trump’s followers will no longer have a voice.
