93 percent of Americans believe that background checks should be required for ALL gun sales. The NRA doesn’t agree because they don’t care about the safety of the American people. They are a lobby which has one concern; the profits of gun manufacturers and gun sellers.

Here in Nevada, we have a measure on our ballot to require comprehensive background checks. The people support it, but the sheriff of Washoe County, the sheriff of Carson City, and our Attorney General are opposed; they have all stated this fact in an ad paid for by the NRA. Why? Follow the money. Check their campaign contributions.

Chuck Allen, the sheriff of Washoe County, Ken Furlong, the sheriff of Carson City, and Attorney General Adam Laxalt are hypocrites. They have taken an oath to protect and serve the people in the counties and state they represent, but the NRA has contributed huge sums to their campaigns, and that is more important to them than public safety.

My wife and I live in Washoe County, and will never again vote for Chuck Allen. He is unworthy of the office he holds. “Profit before people” is not acceptable to me or any of my followers.

The NRA is attempting to protect the many gun shows held in our casinos. Background checks will not prevent honest citizens from purchasing their toys, and it has no relation to the second amendment. The NRA is a lobby which is employed by gun manufacturers and gun sellers; it is no longer a gun safety or gun rights advocate; they fool millions of Americans who are paying dues to a lobby, and ultimately billion dollar corporations.

Police officer associations in Nevada approve background checks. They are the ones who actually face individuals with guns; they are not elected officials like the three men named above. They do not need the support of the NRA to obtain employment.
