Another Reason Why I Denounce Religious Cults

The truth is that all religions were created by men for their own advantage; power and money. If you believe that you need instruction about how to live a moral and spiritual life, and that man behind the pulpit has the answers; that’s your choice, and I would fight to the death to protect that choice. However; that’s not me; and that’s my right. Here’s another reason why I denounce organized religion.

Evangelicals have claimed that the cornerstone of their faith is ‘family values,’ and a belief that marriage can only be between one man and one woman. However, even after the revelation of Trump’s lewd and reprehensible comments about women on “The Apprentice,” and then the tape recorded on a bus with “Billy Bush” of “Access Hollywood,” a group of evangelist leaders continue to support this vile and disgusting man.

Trump bragged that because he was famous, he could do anything. “Grab them by the p—y,” Trump said in a recording. “You can do anything.”

Apparently evangelists don’t consider this a violation of family values, or even a serious attack against women in general.

“I think a 10-year-old tape of a private conversation with a TV talk show host ranks pretty low on their hierarchy of their concerns,” Ralph Reed, a conservative leader said in an e-mail.

Previously, Reed had this to say when criticizing Hillary Clinton.

“Character matters, and the American people are hungry for that message,” the Times quotes Reed as saying. “We care about the conduct of our leaders, and we will not rest until we have leaders of good moral character.”

He can’t have it both ways. Although these tapes are ten years old, does anyone believe that Trump has not acted in similar fashion to this day? “A leopard can’t change its spots.” There may be more recordings out there which will surface before November 8th.

There has been far too much hypocrisy in this election season. Republican politicians who angrily denounced Trump, now support him. The Christian religious right supports him because they want to control the lives and rights of all women, and yet they claim to support family values by supporting a sexist. The two do not mix well. This is more evidence that the right wing is anti-American and rejects individual rights and freedoms.

This has given me another reason to reject religions and religious leaders; I don’t trust them, and I don’t believe in their teachings; they are wrong. All men and women are created equal, and have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and these rights are embedded in the freedom of personal choice. We who shun these cults take responsibility for our own actions, words, and thoughts.

The bottom line is always the truth. The Christian religious right is afraid that Hillary Clinton will appoint Supreme Court Justices who will uphold a woman’s right to decide what happens to her own body. Abortion should never be an issue in politics; this is about individual rights. Religion should not have any influence within the operation of our government; that’s the first amendment right of myself, and everyone like me.

Please repost and expose religious hypocrisy. Thank you.
