Some on the right wing are completely shocked and dismayed by the release of recordings revealing that Donald Trump is a sexist, and nothing but a “dirty old man;” at least that’s what they say. For over 15 months he has revealed to everyone but the major media that he is a racist, bigot, misogynist, and is anti-Muslim. No one can truly be surprised. Now three sets of videos and recordings have revealed Trump’s sexist attitude, and complete lack of morality.
This is so severe that Republican leadership is in a state of panic. It was a travesty to hire Kellanne Conway as Trump’s campaign manager; she has zero experience. She has been Trump’s spin doctor, but even she has reached her limit. She has virtually disappeared from television and twitter.
She spun Trump’s lies for weeks, but even she must have been exhausted attempting to keep up with her boss’s missteps.
I have been highly critical of Republican leadership for allowing Trump to be the GOP standard bearer. Even more embarrassing for Republicans, they supported a man they knew was totally unfit to become the President of the United States. But the hypocritical denial by the GOP has not ended; even today.
The conservative writer David French put it well Friday evening. “Honestly,” he tweeted, “pro-Trump evangelicals, in future elections don’t try to argue that character matters. Just don’t.”
Even when Ryan was rebuking Trump, he seemed to be looking for an escape hatch. “I hope Mr. Trump treats this situation with the seriousness it deserves and works to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this clip suggests.”
Is that the best Ryan can do? My advice is “grow a pair.” For once in your life stand up for what is right and ignore your party affiliation. If you are not embarrassed for the GOP, you are not a man who believes in principle, and character.
The entire party must accept responsibility for Trump’s words and actions. He is the representative of the Republican Party, and what he believes is your platform. Your only choice is to renounce this man who does not believe in the American way of life. If the GOP fails to do so, they have damaged their party irrevocably in a nearly impossible goal to win an election.
Reince Priebus, Paul Ryan, and the rest are demonstrating a complete failure to use whatever intellect they possess. Trump has become the disaster they created over the last eight years or longer; they must face facts and admit their mistakes. Their flip-flopping on Trump has resulted in a division within the party and between voters, and it has permanently split the party into two or three factions.
Hypocrisy has a price; it this one is too big for the GOP to afford.
