Baby boomers are no longer the largest demographic in America. Millennials compose the largest number of eligible voters. Tuesday, a group of young women and a few men stood before RNC headquarters and demanded that hypocrites Reince Priebus and Paul Ryan remove their endorsement for Donald Trump.
“I’m here today because the Republican Party is running a sexual predator for president of the United States,” 21-year-old American University student Anna Bonomo said in a speech at the steps. Behind her, women held up banners that read: “THE GOP HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN OLD BOYS CLUB #GOPCAUSEDTRUMP.”
Millennials do not watch broadcast television, and are not swayed by the media. They are better informed than older Americans who are frequently brainwashed by networks such as FOX Noise. The most important fact is that in 20 years, they will be in control of our nation. In addition, millennial women will have more power than their male counterparts. More young women are presently registered at our universities than young men. They are the future; older white men are the past.
“Now that the sexism of the Republican Party is no longer hidden behind lies, Paul Ryan has said he can no longer defend Trump,” she continued. “But Ryan and Priebus continue to endorse the indefensible. They are selfish cowards, and they are putting their party before their country. We are standing up to fight for women, our country, and our democracy.”
While mainstream media refused to denounce Trump’s anti-American campaign, millennials know the truth. It’s time for the rest of our nation’s people to wake up and refuse to allow the ambitions of an unqualified megalomaniac to come to fruition.
Ms. Bonomo is completely accurate when she labels Paul Ryan a coward. He has failed to exhibit any courage as the most prominent politician in his party. I, too, am ashamed of the man who has exhibited himself as someone extraordinary, but does not place his nation before his politics. He is a hypocrite, and by continuing to support Trump, he has proven that his own morals are unacceptable.
Trump’s lewd and degrading comments about women were not only sexually explicit, he was also insinuating that they fail to have the intelligence and self-control to resist his advances. He is the epitome of a misogynist.
Why did it require the revelation of Trump’s estimation of women to finally cause outrage? Why wasn’t he reprimanded when he was proven a racist? Why didn’t the American people completely reject him when he called for a ban on all Muslims entering our nation? Why did the media continue to support Trump when he attacked one of their own who was physically challenged? Why hasn’t the question been asked about why he chose a white supremacist as his campaign CEO? America’s “news” services are hypocritical, and are doing a disservice to our nation and our people.
I may be 70 years old, but I stand with millennials who demand the truth, and are concerned for our nation’s future. They believe that democracy must return to Washington, and the principles of our founding fathers restored.
