Many in the Republican Party are blaming Donald Trump for the implosion of the GOP. This is nothing less than a diversion from the truth. One year ago, the majority of Republicans rejected the possibility that Trump might be the party’s nominee for the presidency. They knew then that Trump was a racist, bigot, a misogynist, and had denounced Muslims. When it was apparent that he would receive enough delegates to win the nomination, many became cowards and joined Trump’s vile beliefs as they placed their party first, regardless of the fact that Trump was the most unqualified candidate in our nation’s history.
The majority of the party flip-flopped, and some flip-flopped again. The American people cannot elect ambitious politicians who fail to have the courage to stand by principles and continue to vacillate.
The Republican Party is over; it cannot be fixed. If real Republicans would have chosen to stand together, denounce Trump, and realized that the election was lost, the party may have survived. Now three separate factions are involved in a struggle for power.
Those who are pro-Trump will never relinquish their stance. They have found a leader who allows them to come out of the shadows. Failed politicians, such as Chris Christie, Newt Gingrich, and Rudy Giuliani have nowhere else to go. They are committed to a Trump victory, or will fade away into obscurity. They are not true Republicans. Republican ideals and principles are not part of their political platform.
Anti-Trump forces will be forced to rebuild from within. They must find effective leadership. Republican leaders who lack the courage to entirely reject Donald Trump must be removed. This includes Reince Priebus, Paul Ryan, and Mitch McConnell. These men refuse to stand up for the United States of America and its people. They are only concerned about elections. The extremists who began the party’s division, must be forced from power. This brings me to the TEA Party.
In 2010, when the TEA Party came into national politics, they had a single goal; destroy our democracy. They promised not to deliberate or compromise with Democrats. The GOP was moved to the extreme right and is responsible for the dysfunctional government we have today.
America cannot accept Donald Trump, but we must take a serious look at who created him. The entire Republican Party is composed of weak men and women who lack the courage to stand up for what is right. When the priority is elections, the American people are ignored. Owned by the one-percent, Republicans have disregarded the needs of the working class for far too long.
Trump’s success is a combination of two groups. One group is using him as a symbol of their protest against the establishment which has failed them for eight years. The second group is no longer forced to keep its prejudices out of their daily lives. They now have a leader to is filled with the same ignorant feelings of hatred they have secretly harbored for years.
Failed Republican leadership created “Trumpenstein,” and now they lack the courage to destroy him. I cannot tolerate several things which make men weak; one of them is cowardice; and when the core of this cowardice is personal ambition, it becomes despicable.
Demand responsible action from Republicans. Tell them to remove their support for their dangerous and unfit candidate. Thank you again for reposting this.
