The Sunday talk shows are always interesting. Sometimes they reveal important information, and sometimes they fail to offer any information relevant to the elections. This Sunday was interesting because we learned that the Republican standard bearer, Donald Trump, and his running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, do not agree on another issue.
The fact is that Trump has made numerous mistakes, beginning with his convention. His negativity was alarming to most Americans, and it began a close scrutiny of every word uttered by the failed businessman. His greatest mistake was likely the nomination of Pence as his vice-presidential candidate. Pence is a well-known homophobe, and a religious extremist. I expected him to nominate Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie, or even Sarah Palin; someone who would bow to the megalomaniac. It now appears that he made a mistake. His running mate has removed himself from several actions and rhetoric by Trump, and this has created additional dissension in his campaign.
Mike Pence is no saint. He admittedly has priorities which are far from patriotic. He openly states that for him the number one concern is his religion, second is his party, and third is the United States of America. He was the first governor to institute anti-gay laws, and continues to be homophobic. But when a team is finalized for a presidential campaign, the vice-presidential candidate must support the party’s nominee without reservation. This is not the case with Trump and Pence.
Trump claims that the election is “rigged,” and will not accept the results unless he wins. Pence does not agree with him. On Sunday, he said that “we will absolutely accept the result of the election.”
Trump todie Newt Gingrich jumped in to defend Trump with an incongruous statement about the release of WikiLeaks tapes revealing Hillary Clinton’s campaign strategy.
“This is not about election officials at the precinct level,” he said. “This is about last Friday when the networks spent 23 minutes on the Trump tape and less than one minute ― all three networks combined ― less than one minute on the Hillary Clinton’s secret speeches that were being revealed on WikiLeaks.”
This just might be related to Trump’s exposure as a sexual predator, and his continued fantasy regarding “rigged elections.”
Pence offered the definitive response without accusations and innuendos.
“People that are concerned about this election and about us preserving the one person, one vote that’s at the very center of our American democracy, should become involved, should volunteer at their neighborhood polling place,” Pence said. “That’s how we ensure the accountability. Frankly, that’s how we protect the integrity of the vote for Republicans, Democrats, Independents.”
Trump’s entire organization is a complete mess. Not one of his upper level campaign staff has any experience, and he obviously neglected to vet Pence. They obviously do not know each other. And if Pence chooses to ignore Trumps confirmed sexual harassment and sexual abuse, he is in no way a Christian.
Help America know the truth and re-post this; thank you.
