Democrats Lead in Presidential, Senate, and House Races?

One poll gives Democrats a reason to be optimistic. The “Trump effect” may be giving control of the Senate and House back to Democrats.

First of all let’s be clear; predicting the results for the House of Representatives is far more difficult than analyzing the Senate or even the presidency.

Wednesday, the Public Religion Research Institute and Brookings Institute, released a poll giving Hillary Clinton a 15 point lead over Donald Trump. This is not a surprise; the same polling group has constantly revealed that Hillary was leading Trump, However, it has offered a possibility that the House may be in contention.

It takes only a few seats to regain control of the Senate or lose it. One-third of the 100 senators are up for reelection; 34 this year. At the present time, it appears that Democrats will regain control. The House is an entirely different situation. 435 men and women are seeking reelection.

It is virtually impossible to accurately poll such a large number of politicians. However, what is called a “generic ballot” offered by this polling group, shows a 12 percent lead for Democrats.

Let’s take a look at what this means for America.

The rise of extremist groups, the TEA Party, and the Freedom Caucus, who promised to refuse compromise in Washington, are the prime reason our government is in gridlock. Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, is the prime reason the Senate has done nothing over the last two years; he kept his promise.

If Democrats regain both the House and Senate, and Hillary wins the presidency, changes will happen quickly. In addition, Hillary will be nominating one, and maybe three Supreme Court Justices. Progressives will remove gridlock, and move our nation forward; joining the remainder of the developed world.

Serious issues, including income inequality, the high cost of education, improving the affordable care act, women’s rights to equal treatment under the law, climate change, and fair taxation will receive attention, and change will become a reality. The party of “no” will become the party of “no relevance.”

The election is only 19 days away. Having been involved in this ludicrous and extra-lengthy campaign season, I am ready for it to end. I live in Nevada, and our state is experiencing some important issues involving candidates and legislation which will shape our state’s future for many years.

Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, and TEA Party darling Joe Heck are in a close battle for Harry Reid’s seat in the Senate. Heck has served two terms in the House, and has nothing to show for his life of privilege. Masto was our Attorney General, and is endorsed by every law enforcement agency in the state.

Question one involves background checks for the purchase of guns at gun shows and online. Virtually every law enforcement officer in the state favors the measure, with the exception of four men whose campaigns are supported by the gun lobby, the NRA. Our Governor, Brian Sandoval, our Attorney General, Adam Laxalt, the Sheriff of Carson City, Ken Furlong, and the Sheriff of Washoe County, Chuck Allen have all appeared in ads opposing the measure, and paid for by the NRA.

Changes will come in 2017 for states and the federal government; and it’s about time. We cannot continue to pay over 94 million dollars each year to men and women who do nothing, with the exception of taking their paychecks, and using their excessive benefits packages.

If you support your country, please help others to know the truth; re-post. Thank you.
