Thursday evening, the annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner was held. Attending were the usual wealthy businessmen, well-known news personalities, and the presidential candidates. The dinner, celebrating the first Catholic presidential candidate in 1928, is intended to be a friendly roast; raising money for Catholic charities. Both candidates are expected to poke fun at each other and themselves. Trump was the first to speak, and the final intent was not humor.
Trump attacked Hillary as if the event was one of his angry rallies. In turn, he was booed by the crowd; all wearing tuxedos and evening gowns. The Washington Post called his speech a “eulogy for his presidential campaign.”
Trump received the loudest boos when he said the following, based on a false rumor which was debunked years ago.
“Hillary is so corrupt, she got kicked off the Watergate Commission.”
With every debate and every rally, Trump proves himself less ‘presidential.’ His weak temperament, prejudiced views, and revealed misogyny are losing him voters, not gaining them.
I am appalled that Trump continues to receive large crowds at his rallies. Who are these people? They obviously dislike my America. They seek a nation filled with anger and hatred. They must believe that a woman’s only purpose is to be a ‘plaything’ for men. It is unforgivable that women who continue to support the vile, failed businessman, are literally telling their daughters that men are allowed to treat them in any manner they choose.
I was proud of Hillary. She failed to move from the intent of the evening. She was very funny, and displayed the enormous differences between herself and her opponent. Hillary likely gained additional support last evening, and that situation will probably continue to grow until November 8th. Surprisingly, Trump and Hillary shook hands at the end of the evening, something which did not happen at the last two debates.
The Republican running mates continue to disagree on several issues. Mike Pence was not able to discount some of Trump’s most vicious remarks, or his attempts to deny tales of sexual assault. Trump’s hired ‘spin doctor,’ Kellyanne Conway, is displaying increased difficulty as she attempts to explain Trump’s lies and vicious attacks.
Trump is experiencing defections within his own campaign staff. Long-time Political Director, Jim Murphy, is leaving the campaign. He gave no reason, Murphy will simply not be a part of Trump’s traveling circus.
Hillary is not “beating” Trump; she has no need to campaign against him any longer. His campaign is truly imploding. There has been no need to write script for television ads which offer reasons why Trump should not be the president, all that has been needed is to release his own words. His rhetoric is in opposition to everything America represents.
Please re-post this article and free America from the evil which is Donald Trump. Thank you.
