Republicans who Support Trump may Lose their Jobs

Kelly Ayotte

I reported long ago that I believed desperate actions by Republicans who failed to continue their refusal to support Donald Trump would suffer political defeat in the future. The hypocrites who denounced him throughout the primary season, and then reversed their opinion, will pay a price.

It was understandable when Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani, and Newt Gingrich jumped on Trump’s bandwagon. All three are proven failures, and their political careers are over. But others, who remain in the political environment, will rightfully suffer decreased support this year and in the future.

One of the most notable is the situation facing New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte. Although Ayotte was critical of many statements made by the Republican standard bearer, she continued to support him and promised to cast her ballot for Donald Trump. Although Ayotte eventually removed her support after the exposure of the “Acess Hollywood” tapes, it may be too late for her.

Her Democratic opponent is Governor Maggie Hassan. In the most recent poll, Hassan is leading Ayotte 46 percent to 38 percent. The ‘Trump Effect’ is proving to be extremely damaging to the party and its control of the Senate, and possibly the House.

The problem is not Donald Trump; he is only the result of years of failure. The GOP has continually placed the future of their party ahead of the future of our nation. Another perfect example is John McCain. Although he was belittled by Trump, and McCain denounced him for his racist and un-American views, he continues to support him, and says that Trump will receive his vote. This, from the man whose presidential campaign slogan was “Country First.” He didnt’ mean it then, and he doesn’t mean it now.

Thanks to the ‘Trump effect,’ several Republican newspapers are endorsing Hillary Clinton. Historically “red” states, such as North Carolina and Arizona, may turn “blue” in November. Many prominent Republicans, such as George H.W. Bush have decided to cast their ballots for Hillary.

This will not end with the 2016 election. The Republican Party is divided into three factions. In future elections, those who supported Trump will likely be ostracized by those who renounced him and the voting public. Trump does not represent the values or principles of most Americans. Those who support him share his vile and immoral beliefs.

Politicians are good at one thing; pandering or “flip-flopping” on the issues when such action benefits their election bid. Atyotte may be paying for such inconsistency. If the American people fail to elect principled and dedicated legislators, they will suffer the consequences. A viable candidate must serve the majority, and ignore the one-percent; this does not define most Republicans.

The ‘Trump Effect’ will be long lasting. It will result in the destruction of the Republican Party, and eliminate the chances of many GOP candidates in future elections. But don’t pity them; they chose him to represent their party in a presdential election.

Spread the word; please re-post. Thank you.
