Donald Trump was holding a rally in Fletcher, North Carolina. The crowd was smaller than Trump has experienced in the past, but most notable was a lack of enthusiasm by the Republican standard bearer. Spectators said that his voice was hoarse, and “his heart did not appear to be in it.” Is Trump displaying the lack of stamina frequently directed at Hillary Clinton?
Before the event, he walked away from two television interviews. Although he began his rally with the same attacks; ‘the dishonest media, and a corrupt Hillary Clinton,’ he was once again forced to repeat his denial of claims of sexual abuse, and his fallacious claims regarding voter fraud. He is no longer in control of the theme of his rallies, he is forced to take a defensive position.
After what I believe were three crushing defeats in the debates, and his debacle at the Al Smith dinner on Thursday evening, he may be experiencing the “agony of defeat.”
He told the crowd that if he loses, everything will have been a waste of time and $100 million of his own money. Is he setting his supporters up for a defeat?
Trump once touted the polls; when they were in his favor. Now he claims not to believe in them. National polls have Clinton leading by more than six points. In the battleground state of Ohio, they are tied. Clinton leads by more than six points in Pennsylvania. Hillary leads by nearly four-and-one-half in Florida.
Most surprising are the polls in traditionally ‘red states.’ In Arizona, a poll by the ‘Arizona Republic,’ which endorsed Hillary, shows her leading by five points. In Utah, Trump leads by five points, but Hillary’s team is working hard to change that unstable number. Trump’s lead in Georgia has dropped to just four points with 17 days remaining. In North Carolina, Clinton is leading by nearly three points.
Trump’s greatest obstacle is the Electoral College. “Experts” claim that Clinton will win more than 300 votes; the winning number is 270.
Each time Trump holds a rally or a press conference between now and election day, he will be listening to “the Fat lady warming up” in the wings. His problem is that exposing his background in multiple areas has proven him unfit to lead our nation. My only complaint is that this should have happened over a year ago, and Trump would not have received the Republican Party’s nomination. I cannot believe that the media, with is enormous resources, was unaware of these facts from the very beginning. I believe that the American people have been led astray.
Although many voters forgave Trump for most of his evils, including racism and Islamophobia, three recordings and a dozen charges of sexual harassment and sexual assault were ‘nails in the coffin.’
Hopefully, only one question remains; will Democrats win the House, the Senate, or both?
