Mitch McConnell is afraid of losing his job of privilege. For eight years he pledged to do nothing; has done nothing; and wants to keep his position as a “do nothing.” The worst Senate Majority Leader in history is afraid of being forced to work for his $194,300 per year salary; plus benefits. The worst news for the American taxpayer, is that he receives most of this amount as his lifelong pension.
Wake up America; you are paying dozens of congressional salaries for nothing. They take our money and fail to perform the jobs for which they were elected. If all 535 members of congress made only their base pay, with no benefits, and no raises for heading committees, or positions of leadership, the cost to taxpayers is $93,090,000 each year. We are paying their salaries and receive absolutely nothing in return.
McConnell and his cronies are scared to death that Democrats will regain control of the Senate. If there is a god, who cares about people, that will be the case. Washington must get off of their a**es and do something.
McConnell’s Super PAC is spending a great deal of money in Missouri. The incumbent, a Republican by the name of Roy Blunt, is presently leading Democratic candidate, Jason Kander, by a single percentage point. McConnell is worried about the “Trump effect.” Polls vary, day to day, but the odds are that he will no longer have control over the Senate. Wouldn’t that be terrible? The “party of no” just might be forced to do something under a Hillary Clinton Administration if she has control of at least one house of congress.
We are facing a similar situation here in Nevada. Harry Reid is retiring, and we have a two-term House Republican, Joe Heck, running for his seat. Heck has done nothing for four years with the exception of attempting to shut down the government if the funding for Planned Parenthood was not revoked. Nevada has many residents who are living at the poverty level, even if they are employed. Many of these women have only Planned Parenthood for breast screening and other life saving exams.
His Democratic opponent is former state Attorney General, Catherine Cortez Masto. She is endorsed by every law enforcement agency in the state, and stands with the majority of Americans on the issues.
The Koch brothers have spent millions of dollars supporting Heck, and the NRA gun lobby has added additional money to his war chest. Heck has voted in favor of big oil consistently, and against renewable energy. Nevada is a perfect state for solar and wind technology, and Northern Nevada has several geothermal plants as well.
McConnell is all about party wins; he has never been concerned with the American majority. He has failed our nation for far too long; time for him to face forced retirement.
Government only works when the two major parties work together. Under McConnell’s “leadership” the Senate has accomplished nothing in eight years. When Republicans won control of the Senate in the 2014 midterms, McConnell promised the American people that “congress would get to work.” he lied, as usual. He refused to conduct hearings for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland; it was just too much work for the useless Senator from Kentucky.
