If you’re like me, you are disgusted with the media’s constant negative reporting about the 2016 election. Until the last month, the larger news services refused to label Donald Trump for who he really is, but eventually they had no choice. If we set that aside, they have held Hillary Clinton to a very high standard, and refused to report her many positive accomplishments. Attempting to do the right thing doesn’t sell advertising. After all the ugliness, and the confidence of the Democratic nominee growing, we are finally hearing some good news.
After President Obama was elected in 2008, Mitch McConnell declared that Republicans would do nothing with the exception of guaranteeing Mr. Obama would be a one-term president. Although Mitt Romney was soundly defeated in 2012, McConnell continues his “do-nothing” promise. While Boehner and Ryan allowed the extremists in the GOP who called themselves the “TEA Party,” or the “Freedom Caucus” to control Congress, our government became dysfunctional. This culminated in the creation of “Trumpenstein;” a protest against the Republican establishment.
Both Hillary Clinton, and running mate Tim Kaine have promised to work with “true” Republicans and repair gridlock in Washington. As an Independent, I have hope that this will be a reality. I would like to see some real Republicans on Hillary’s cabinet. I would hope that the extremists would be “run out of town,” and obstructionists such as Ted Cruz become nothing but a bad memory. Our legislators must deny the influence of the one-percent such as the Koch brothers and place the majority in a position of the highest priority.
Years of lies from FOX Noise, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, Tom Cotton, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and many others have divided our nation, and the time has come for this to end. We must return to the existence of two strong and principled parties who will deliberate and compromise to find solutions advantageous for the majority of our nation’s people. This system worked for 232 years, but in the last eight, extremists gained control of our nation’s government, and removed our democracy. In its place, they alone decided to make it an oligarchy where they controlled the fate of our nation, without concern for the larger number of the American people.
Only when two strong parties, which are composed of men and women who place our nation and our people ahead of all other concerns, can our country survive and return to the ideals of our founding fathers. Special interests, including the one-percent, politicians who place personal ambitions ahead of our nation, and the Christian religious right, must be denied access to our elected officials. Outside interests which fail to represent every American must be eliminated from securing influence in the governing of our nation.
Democratic vice-presidential nominee, Tim Kaine, said the following.
“We have not run this campaign as a campaign against the GOP with the big broad brush — we’ve run it against Donald Trump,” Kaine said. He predicted: “We’re going to get a lot of Republican votes and that will also be part of, right out of the gate, the way to bring folks back together.”
This is my America. This is our future manifested through positive ideas. Both Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine have the experience to achieve these goals.
For our nation’s future, please re-post. Thank you.
