I have a long list of politicians whom I despise. Any elected official who fails to serve those who elected him or her should be rejected for placing their own ambitions ahead of our nation’s people. One of these has disappointed me more than the others; Paul Ryan.
I admit it; I fell for the hype, and believed that he was principled and cared about not only the people of Wisconsin, but the people of our nation.
Ryan’s plan for our nation’s fiscal security would be a disaster, and even phase out Medicare. His lack of economic understanding was displayed when he joined other Republicans and signed the unconstitutional pledge to never raise taxes, written by lobbyist Grover Norquist. Although he was Mitt Romney’s running mate, it was Ryan who designed the Republican fiscal plan which would have favored the super rich, and increased income inequality.
The final nail in Ryan’s coffee for me is his lack of moral character, his rejection of principles, and his obvious personal ambitions which oppose the needs of the many.
When Donald Trump began his campaign, Ryan joined virtually every other Republican and denounced him. He was part of the “never Trump” group in the GOP who realized that the “orange man” did not represent their party or American ideals. He supported Marco Rubio, until he resigned from the race for the White House. Next came the ‘most hated man in Washington,’ Ted Cruz. When he failed, Ryan still refused to endorse Donald Trump; at least until other Republicans joined forces and insisted that he change his position. In typical Republican and hypocritical fashion, he flip-flopped and offered his support to the party’s nominee, and new standard bearer; party took precedence over our nation. He was unconcerned that the man he gave his allegiance to was a white supremacist and promoted hatred. Only when it was revealed that he was a sexual predator did Ryan stop defending him; but he remains a supporter.
Is this a man we can trust? Is this a man who supports family values? What is he telling his family; especially his daughter, wife, and mother? Would he be proud if Trump became the President of the United States he claims to love?
His vacillating on Trump’s candidacy may prove to be his demise.
Like all Representatives, he is up for reelection. It appears that he will easily regain his seat this year. But in two years, that could all change. Republican voters supported Trump primarily because they were angry with Republican legislators. The outcome of the election in two weeks could further anger GOP voters. Will the midterms in 2018 result in a backlash?
More importantly, what if Democrats take control of the House on November 8th. Ryan would no longer hold the position of Speaker.
Nothing is predictable any longer in politics. One thing remains more important than any other factor; the truth. The media will not give the American people the entire truth; it’s the
responsibility of myself and others who are true patriots.
Please re-post; the American people have a right to know. Thank you.
