Strong Support for Hillary in Nevada

hillary-2

For months the mainstream media has been reporting lies. They have supported Donald Trump for the last 16 months. They depicted Hillary as ‘untrustworthy,’ unlikable, and uninspiring. Early voting began in my state of Nevada last Saturday, and already the trend appears to be a large turnout of Democratic voters.

The latest polls show Hillary leading Trump by nearly five points in Nevada; Catherine Cortez Masto is leading Joe Heck by nearly three points for Harry Reid’s Senate seat. Both good news for Nevadans.

When my wife and I arrived to vote at our polling place Saturday morning we had to wait in line. That alone was a good sign. Traditionally 60 percent of all votes cast in the Silver State come from early voters. Some politicos believe that the large lead Hillary now holds nationally will influence GOP voters not to make that trip to their polling place. The “Trump effect” may decide this election, mixed with the unreported strong support for Hillary Clinton.

Everyone should vote. This is an historic election. Not only will our nation likely select its first woman president, here in Nevada, we can elect the first ever Latina Senator. The American people have few opportunities for their voices to be heard. Every four years we alone decide the direction our government will take for the next four years or longer.

It appears that in Nevada, our residents want to move our nation forward, and not allow it to move into the past. We support the rights of all men and women; sensible immigration reform; and complete equality and respect for women. We want to see our state’s universities filled with eager students from all income levels. Many of Nevada’s residents live at or near the poverty level. We support Planned Parenthood, and improving the Affordable Care Act.

Americans must ignore the media; many of us are excited about this election. Many of us also feared that a wealthy man who is only concerned with his personal ambitions would be allowed to take his fascist views to Washington.

The race for Harry Reid’s Senate seat has enormous importance. In order for Democrats to regain control of the Senate, they must retain Reid’s current position. Huge sums of money continue to pour into our state. Masto is receiving millions from the DNC. Heck is receiving most of his money from the Koch brothers, who seek greater control over the Senate to protect and grow their enormous interest in big oil.

Both Hillary and Masto have also received fallacious attacks from the gun lobby, the NRA. The NRA is also telling lies about question one on our ballot. It is a state measure to add the purchase of guns from gun shows and online sellers to the requirement for background checks. The NRA is using four well-known elected officials, who receive campaign contributions from the gun lobby, to lie about the measure. They falsely claim that under provisions of the law, law abiding citizens could be arrested. They include our Governor, our Attorney General, the Sheriff of Reno, and the Sheriff of Carson City; all Republicans.

I moved to Nevada in 1986. I am proud of my state and praise its diversity. Now if we could only get newscasters and others to pronounce the name of our state correctly; it’s Nevada, not Nevaada!

Please re-post and spread the good news. Thank you.
