Ted Cruz is the only Senator Worse than Mitch McConnell

For eight years Mitch McConnell has been the second-worst Senator in Washington. In 2014 he became the Senate Majority Leader, and added to his “do-nothing” pledge. His refusal to hold hearings for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, is indefensible. The truth is that there is only one senator who is worse than McConnell.

Ted Cruz is the leader of the obstructionist TEA Party. He is one of the leaders of the extremists who destroyed our democracy. He is also a hypocrite. Cruz supports Donald Trump, although the “orange man” accused his father of involvement in the assassination of JFK, and criticized the appearance of Heidi, Cruz’ wife.

Cruz is now suggesting that no hearings be held to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court for four years. Really?

We need loyal Americans in Washington, not ambitious traitors who would deny the Constitutional rights of the majority.

Cruz was recently asked about hearings for Garland if Republicans maintain their majority in the Senate.

You know, I think there will be plenty of time for debate on that issue,” said Cruz, when he was asked whether a Republican-controlled Senate should hold votes on a President Hillary Clinton’s nominees. “There is certainly long historical precedent for a Supreme Court with fewer justices. I would note, just recently, that Justice Breyer observed that the vacancy is not impacting the ability of the court to do its job. That’s a debate that we are going to have.”

So the worst Senator in Washington knows more than our founding fathers. There was a simple reason why they agreed that there must be nine justices, not eight. They guaranteed that there would never be a tie, and a decision by a lower court would be upheld. This has already occurred several times within the current session.

During the primary season, I was far more fearful of a Cruz nomination than a win for Trump. Cruz would destroy our democracy forever. He denies free speech, and would institute Christianity as our national religion. Both would be in violation of the first amendment, and against the explicit intent of our founding fathers.

This is a good time to point to the fact that the majority of the men who wrote the Constitution were not religious. They rejected organized religion and spoke about its evils frequently. Because all religions were created by men, they refused to accept the teachings of a minister or priest as the word of God. Most of them, including Jefferson, Franklin, Madison, and Washington called themselves “deists.” They believed that at some time a supernatural being created the heavens and earth, but that he or she was not involved in the daily lives of mankind, and did not speak directly to them.

One thing we know; Ted Cruz is always wrong, and he is very wrong about the Supreme Court.

Hopefully, Democrats will control the Senate, and the matter will become moot.

Please let others know about the plans by Republicans to continue their obstructionist methods. Thank you, and I’d appreciate it if you re-post.
