Donald Trump and I are the same age. In 1964, I enlisted in the United States Air Force when I finished high school. I had the grades, but not the money to attend college, and therefore enlisted in hopes of furthering my education. I’ve always wondered why there is no record of Donald Trump serving during the Vietnam era.
It turns out that Trump received several “deferments,” including one for ‘bone spurs’ in his heel. When asked which heel, he couldn’t remember. His ‘injuries’ did not prevent him from reportedly being a ‘star athlete’ in high school.
“I didn’t serve, I haven’t served,” he said at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire. “I always felt a little guilty. I’ve done a lot of things. I’ve built the Vietnam Memorial in New York. … It’s a way of making up.”
Trump calls himself a “financial warrior,” and claims that he is “financially brave.”
So, tell me once again; what makes Trump qualified to lead our nation, and possess the nuclear launch codes?
With just four days left until election day, more than 30 million early voters have already cast their ballots. The polls can no longer be believed, they often become less accurate as the all important day draws nearer.
However, political experts are often correct regarding the results of the Electoral College. 270 votes are needed to win the election. Real Clear Politics estimates that as of today, Hillary has 224 likely votes, and Trump 164. Other polls are far more optimistic; some giving Hillary a number higher than 270. None of the Electoral College polls show a win for Trump. There are more than 146 million registered voters in our nation. I am as nervous as anyone about the outcome because I don’t trust most voters. Far too many vote for a party, not the candidate. Less than one-half of eligible voters are well-informed, and believe what they see and hear on television. I am worried about the future for my wife and myself, and for the future of our nation. A Trump presidency would be a disaster, and end the America I love.
