Anyone who doubts that the extremely weak temperament of Donald Trump presents a tremendous danger to our nation is misguided and obviously uninformed. He cannot be allowed to receive the nuclear launch codes. Domestically, the financial markets are fearful that Trump’s suggested policies would destroy our economy, which remains fragile after the great recession.
The general expectations are that a Trump win would “send the S&P into the tank,” and the Brookings Institute predicts a 10 to 15 percent loss for the Dow.
Most Americans do not understand the stock market. They believe that “trends” greatly affect buying and selling. They are only partially correct. The greatest effect on the stock market is ‘uncertainty;’ and no one knows what a Donald Trump presidency would do to our nation and the world. He has said many crazy; even impossible things, but could some of them actually be implemented and add further harm to our economy, and increase the national debt?
Trump’s complete lack of experience at any level presents many questions; questions Wall Street does not like to face. He will be forced to accept “on-the-job training,” and that’s a great danger to an economy which continues to improve. Changes to President Obama’s policies could cause a reversal of the recovery.
Wall Street and our nation’s greatest fear is that the unemployment rate would move in the opposite direction. It is now at 4.9 percent; the lowest since 2008. Lack of consumer confidence can result in a “bear” market. The number of traded shares continues to hover around 18,000. That mark was never reached until President Obama’s second term in office.
The talk on Wall Street centers around the type of investments which are being conducted in the last couple of weeks. Investors are less willing to take chances and invest in what could be considered less secure stocks. To describe the environment as “cautious” would be a slight understatement.
My wife and I would hoard what little money we possess. Our own insecurity would require us to limit any and all discretionary spending.
Trump offers many dangers and not a single iota of hope in our nation. My only solace is that those who support him would suffer even more, as they became aware that his campaign was built with 100 percent lies and deception.
Please re-post; thank you.
