Many experts believe that Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan staged his own coup with the intention of consolidating power resulting in a complete dictatorship of his country.
In July, while Erdogan was out of the country, members of the military attempted to take over the diverse country; or so it appeared. When Erdogan returned, and called for his nation’s people to stand behind him and crush the rebellion, hundreds died and thousands were injured in the bloody battles. The coup was quickly repressed, and Erdogan immediately began to arrest his enemies. He took control of the army and today tens of thousands are incarcerated, many in new prisons built just for a single purpose. Erdogan is now a dictator. Democracy is dead in the small nation. Erdogan has demanded that the United States surrender his greatest enemy who is living in the United States; Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen.
The frightening thing for the west is that Erdogan believes in Sharia law, the same demand made by the Islamic State. He previously ordered an end to the consumption of all alcoholic beverages; an end to women wearing western style clothing; and the cessation of all public affection.
Donald Trump is a man with a very weak temperament and a penchant for revenge. His announcement of probable cabinet members, his plans for the banning of all Muslims, and the deportation of nearly 12 million Hispanics, reveal his intention to reward his supporters, and punish his enemies. We know from Trump’s own words that he will not be a democratic leader; he believes in fascism.
Like the United States, Turkey has a diverse, cosmopolitan population. Erdogan seeks to force the nation to accept Islam as the sole religion of his nation.
Many Republicans will encourage Trump to repeal the first amendment and institute Christianity as America’s one religion.
There is no doubt that Trump will attempt to control our military; he already claims that he knows more than our generals.
Under Sharia law, homosexuals are put to death.
Mike Pence is America’s greatest homophobe. He may not order the deaths of the LGBT community, but he would demand that they accept ‘conversion therapy.’
In May of 2013, millions of Turkish men and women protested the destruction of Gezi park in Istanbul. Taksim Square was filled with a diverse crown protesting not only the closing of the park, but also the harsh policies of Erdogan. The protests spread across the country. Today, half of the nation’s people love Erdogan, and the other half despise the dictator.
For the last four nights protests across our nation are directed at a Trump presidency. Signs and chants claim that Trump “is not my president.” Trump’s supporters love him, and the rest of the nation hates him.
In Turkey, Erdogan has forbidden the use of social media, and controls the press.
Trump says that he will destroy the media which revealed the fact that he is a white supremacist, and a sexual predator.
These two men have much in common, and are the most divisive leaders in the world.
Trump will attempt to destroy the freedoms of millions of Americans, and limit our Constitutional rights.
He is not my president.
