I am disgusted at the lack of courage our former fourth estate has displayed during the Trump candidacy. Although the majority of the American people have rejected a Trump presidency, the mainstream media has capitulated and even surrendered to a man who is immorally and intellectually incapable of leading our nation forward. It was not acceptable for our nation to accept Trump as our president, but his choice of cabinet members and other insiders is, for no better word, revolting.
Reince Priebus has been selected to be Trump’s chief of staff. He failed his party for ten years, and now wants to be a man who is basically second in line in the power structure of the presidency. This is an obvious attempt by those who now control Trump to appease the Republican establishment.
Steve Bannon is an avowed white supremacist, who is now denying the facts. As a member of “Alt-Right,” and the Director of Breitbart, Bannon has proven that he is opposed to everything America stands for.
Jeff Sessions was rejected 30 years ago as a federal judge based on his belief in the superiority of whites. He is now Trump’s nominee for the position of Attorney General. Black Americans have a reason to fear Trump’s choice, and to refuse accepting him as their president. Statistics reveal that legal gun sales to blacks and other minorities is rising since Trump was gifted the presidency.
Today other Trump appointees raised even more questions.
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was nominated as Trump’s delegate to the United Nations. Personally, there are many things I like about Haley, but she has no experience in international relations. She is a typical uninformed southern politician. However, she is an upcoming “super star” in the party, and the orders were clear; she would be included in a Trump presidency.
The nominee which disturbs me the most is Betsy DeVos. She is slated to be the Secretary of Education.
Dick and Betsy DeVos are billionaires who have contributed millions of dollars to Republican politicians who are homophobic, and deny the right of women to have an abortion under any circumstances unless they are wealthy.
“I know a little something about soft money, as my family is the largest single contributor of soft money to the national Republican Party,” DeVos wrote in a 1997 Roll Call guest column, according to Jane Mayer’s book “Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right.”
“I have decided, however, to stop taking offense at the suggestion that we are buying influence. Now I simply concede the point,” DeVos wrote.
So, here’s the truth; DeVos has purchased herself a cabinet position which opposes public education and the rights of all Americans to achieve their full potential. Fascism has become the political system of our nation, and “it is wearing a cross and carrying the flag.”
Once again I must point to the fact that most of Trump supporters reject change, and the fact that rich, old, white men will not control our country in the immediate future. Minorities are soon to become the majority, and the Republican Party will fade away like a bad dream. But, it may happen far more quickly. Trump may be the impetus for the reality of a second revolution by our nation’s 320 million people. The American dream will die with him as our president unless the people demand that our government will once again represent them and not special interests.
White supremacy is not a choice, and no man who is an alleged sexual predator should be allowed to permanently stain the White House. When Trump leaves 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, it must be burnt to the ground and rebuilt.
